I'm generally on board with this but I think the thing it's warning against, the sanding down of the edges of the satire, has already happened, as GW has made more of a push to make space marines appealing.

They're not fueled by belief, they're fueled by their associated emotions. Believers might foster those emotions as dedication to their gods.

My Warhammer group agree that the new grimndark trailer is very good, but also that it needs more footage of space marines kissing.
Seeing discourse about Honor Among Thieves lately and while it did a very good job of expressing what playing a game like D&D is like, it left me feeling nothing, and I think the reason is D&D 5e's rules and tropes create this sort of historical void that my brain just slides off.
I realised my tolerance for space marine chapters is directly proportional to how much their players see them as weird power armoured freaks and inversely proportional to how much they think they're cool and normal guys.
It's important to have conversations about difficult emotions with your partner but also sometimes you realise you've just unintentionally named several Nine Inch Nails songs.
