truly a mystery who the party should appeal more to, a charismatic young influencer with millions of fans or a guy who sounds like a cartoon and is about to die
my dude you’re 81 years old, you’re about to leave the party of natural causes
James Carville Tells Fox News He’s Out of the Democratic Party if Hasan Piker Stays: ‘One of Us is Going to Leave’
One thing my ex and I would say to each other when we were feeling bad vibes from the other was "be nice to me" it was our safe word to snap us out of however we were acting. Because we might have been in the mood and not realized saying that the way we were responding was not nice.
I like this notetaking example. it is a good case of how gender works. Notetaking has never been about producing a transcript. It is a bureaucratic skill in the 20th c. organixarion because it is SENSEMAKING. Those women socialized to take notes? They have been doing men’s metacognition for them
Notetaking in meetings is tiny case in point - used to be some predictable social assumptions who would do it; now anyone can offer to do ”notetaking” by turning on the AI listener. Further interesting scenario is human recollection / notes (taken by habit by a person) conflict with AI summary
If I had a lot of money, I would use it to enrich my vacations. I'd probably host family on a large property (chosen + raised), and pay for chefs. For every "excursion" I'd pay the operators to do tours/presentations just for us. It'd be a mix of traditional fun (zip lines) + learning (history).
Finally watching Pillion and I can barely stand it 😭
There’s been a lot of conversation online about the dress code policy at Tuskegee. But current students have been largely left out of the discourse. So I talked with some of them:
Tuskegee students sound off about dress code policy: ‘You barely see anyone in a bonnet’
“Right now, we are in a housing crisis. We are in a financial crisis,” one student explained.

I understand the people horrified by the Clancy trial. I am, too. But the people clinging to the black and white, not embracing the nuance of the entire situation are so exhausting. I commented as much (on a video of the take of someone I don't even 100% agree with), and someone went "You ppl!"
One thing Belle Burden's book made me think about: people who don't really talk I assume people who don't express themselves with words have rich interior lives that are just kinda stuck there... Don't know if that's true for everyone tho 🤷🏽
We don't have the same infrastructure and opportunities for advancement that Boomers did. My mom mentioned bonuses earlier (as an incentive for loyalty). I had to break it to her that in 15 yrs, bonuses were only part of the comp structure in a couple of those roles.
Some are calling the work burnout recovery phase the "Great Millennial Pause." I saw at least one person say they want to liquidate their retirement accts and live off of that for a couple years while they figure things out. Some people are taking low-cognitive-load jobs in bookstores, etc.
The New York Times wouldn't let me write about the Age of Diarrhea so I had to do it myself.

It is 100% a flex having a library card
The series finale of The Chi was sweet. I still can't stand Lena for some of the shit she did with the show, but you can tell the cast really likes each other. They've worked together so long!
I have seen so many people struggle with America being 250 years old. I've seen questions about how slavery lasted for 400 years but America's only 250. I just saw someone else ask how is Detroit is 325 years old but America is 250. Like c'mon, it's basic history?! San Diego is older than the US
At my older age, I still don't look like all the mischief I'm into.
A reminder that every gender has people who do too much.
Delainey's commitment to Claudia's fury and misery is so gut-wrenching it makes me cry. Somebody give her a gotdamn award!
Well, this article is incredibly depressing for cooking enthusiasts. The short version: private equity has, over the last couple of decades, quietly bought up most of the classic brands you’ve heard of and then traded on their names while drastically cutting quality and closing American factories
Peak Nancy Grace was something you really just had to be there for. She would come on TV with that stiff ass bob and a statement necklace and lose her whole entire shit EVERY NIGHT! But she got answers and results!
so important to understand that it’s perfectly normal to be frustrated with a crying baby, you just need to have the emotional maturity to realize that negatively reacting would be insane
I cannot overstate how much I hate when people are dicks about babies crying in public (especially airplanes). Do you think the parent is having a good time right now?? Do you think they are not aware of the situation??? Are you going to negotiate with a literal infant????
The only team not to lose to Spain at the World Cup? Cape Verde.
