a lot of people want to believe that right-wing beliefs are rooted in some legitimate material grievance. that makes it easier to imagine that if we simply solved the material problem, they’d deradicalize. but they won’t, because they aren’t disillusioned, they’re just morons.

Many MAHA-adjacent Moms are there because they have been talked down to & dismissed by medical establishment when they raise real concerns about their kids. 1/

David Darmofal@daviddarmofal.bsky.social · 7d agoBecause of Mamdani’s paying influencers to promote him, I now assume by default that everyone in NYC who’s been praising him online like they’re in a cult or something has been getting paid to do that. That’s not good for Mamdani & it’s not good for trust in government.
it’s very validating that there’s no one who’s extremely pro-Israel but then otherwise a normal, kind person. it’s all guys who are disgusted by children’s hospitals.
