Elections are underway in the Republic of Congo, and the government appears to have shut down the #Internet, as they did during 2016 and 2021 elections. Traffic disappeared at 05:30 UTC (06:30 local). Follow current status at radar.cloudflare.com/traffic/cg?d...

Iran's connectivity to the global Internet briefly recovered on March 12 6:35 PM - 6:55 PM local time when a state-owned network (AS58224) that 32.9% of the population in Iran is connected to appeared to toggle its routing announcements off-on-off-on over a 40-minute period.

Unusual event observed on AS58224 (TCI) in #Iran today. ~15:00 UTC, they briefly withdrew 74% of announced IPv4 space. After recovering, #Internet traffic from the network skyrocketed. ~15:30, it briefly withdrew all announced IPv4 space. After recovery, traffic again returned to near-zero.

In addition to the ongoing shutdown of the Internet in Iran, IODA sees evidence of damage to critical Internet or power infrastructure through simultaneous drops in Routing Announcements across various networks. For example, at ~6:00 PM local time today we see 5 networks show simultaneous drops.

It appears that the expected #Internet shutdown in #Uganda has been implemented in advance of upcoming elections. A message from UCC_Official said the suspension of services would be effective at 1800 (15:00 UTC). At that time, we saw traffic from Uganda drop, falling 95% in under 30 minutes.

Iranians have experienced significant instability and disruption in Internet access since nation-wide protests started Dec 29. IODA's view of the Internet interference is most visible in Active Probing. Our Active Probing signal has shown abnormal drops Jan 1-2 and again Jan 6, 7, 8th.
