A strange #BirdOfTheDay theme today: #RedOrDead, any bird with red in the capture but not on the bird or a photo of a bird on bare winter branches. I had to dig deep, but was able to find this Raven carrying a red lollipop 😅 🪶

I had the pleasure of spending some time with this female Pileated Woodpecker this morning on the South Marin Line Fire Road. The lighting conditions were difficult so no spectacular shots, but I do like this one because you can see her tongue entering the hole in this dead madrone tree snag. 🪶
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #EgretsAndHerons, any Egret or Heron will do. All of us bird photographers have kajillions of good photos of these birds for one reason: they hold really still! I chose this Great Egret shot in particular, because I love the artsy squiggle of its reflection. 🪶
