#NowPlaying #MusicSky If you are going to pastiche something, to it with as much skill, fun, knowledge and respect as this. As close to perfect as you can probably get.
#NowPlaying #MusicSky I'm too tired and hot to think very hard about what to play, so I've gone for a classic that was to hand. Everytime I listen to this it gets better. How is that possible?
#NowPlaying #MusicSky #BeatlesSky As I've fired up the right equipment let's have a listen to the 1968 Mono mix on the Blu-ray of this. The greatest album in the history of humanity.
#NowPlaying #MusicSky #ProgSky Having a bit of contrast and compare with this version against the others I have.
Found in a mini garage clear out. Two copies of the brilliant fim mag Neon and two facsimiles of George and Ringo's birthday certificates. Yep, me neither! Reposting with a photo the right way up!
We haven't been in Brighton at Pride weekend for ages but today it was a joy to wander around, see the parade and soak up some atmos. So many smiling faces and only a couple of idiots (who were quietly lead away by stewards). A real privilege to be there.
From the car boot this morning and every charity and secondhand book shop I couldn't stop seeing cheap (sometimes very cheap) Pelicans. I am officially obsessed with them. I've made a spreadsheet and everything! Apparently there are nearly 3000 editions. That should keep me busy in retirement.
Hey up people of Twitter! The Missus Wife @gailmyerscough.co.uk has had a bit of a slow old week so on this payday weekend if you’d be so kind enough to visit her site you’ll find a whole host of lovely things. Thank you! www.gailmyerscough.co.uk
Just sat here waiting for architecture lovers, music fans and mid-century design enthusiasts to find me... www.gailmyerscough.co.uk
A long weekend hoves into view. And now I get 2 Saturdays off in 5 instead of 1 in 6, these will become more of a thing.
On a different round today. Very rural. And the South Downs is looking magnificent in the sunshine. Still too hot though!
#NowPlaying #MusicSky #BeatlesSky As there has been a lot of talk about this recently, I thought I'd better see if it was any good.
Train driver, Milliner, Bookbinder (natch!) or Housewife.
Enough “what would you do on the commune questions” If you got sent back 100 years and were given your grandparent’s job, what are you doing?
And yes. I am crying at an X-Files episode. Perhaps it's me but the older I get the more things a have a quiet sob to. A not entirely unpleasant side effect of my dotage.
#NowPlaying #MusicSky #SoundOnTheRound A new album from the compilation master @rockingbob.bsky.social
MACCA GOES WEIRD! Join me on BBC 6Music’s The Freakzone Playlist at midnight, 6th August. I’ve selected plenty of Paul McCartney’s stranger things. Giddy for this to air. Reposts appreciated. Tune in, Paul! @reaktionbooks.bsky.social @stuartmaconie.bsky.social #6Music #PaulMcCartney
#NowPlaying #MusicSky #ProgSky The new remixed and remastered version of this amazing, complicated, magical album. Also available in 5.1 and Dolby Atmos obvs. Which someone may have also bought. Did I mention I love this album?
Got all my Pelican books* together this morning alongside some others. *Which I'm slightly obsessed with at the moment
Steeling myself for return to work tomorrow after a couple of weeks off sick. Not really looking forward to it has my office is taking part in the RM USO* trial and I haven't been involved in the planning as some of my colleagues have. But I keep reminding myself 6 months to go! *Look it up
#NowPlaying #MusicSky My first Nick Drake album. Bought after reading a NME review in my lunch break. I went straight downstairs from the canteen and ordered it. The sound quality is fantastic I think. And it is still the best ND compilation.
As we are all a bit prog shaped this week check out the latest episode of Unclassified with the mighty @elizabethalker.bsky.social. It’s well worth an hour of your time, especially as a companion on an early morning walk. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...
