Who would’ve thought that a talk on LLMs would involve a deep plunge into wasp nest building? Great keynote bij @alonaf.bsky.social at #CCN2026!

The GAC on World Models at #CCN2026 was SO good. Clearly very well prepared, clear division in proponents and skeptics, lots of concrete examples, beautiful synthesis at the end (and a poll on how audience opinions moved because of it). I learned a lot!
Mind-blowing opening keynote by Doris Tsao at #CCN2026, presenting an ambitious research program to understand ánd engineer consciousness…!
#CCN2026 make sure to check Luca’s poster - lots of opportunity to contribute to this exciting initiative!
(1/6) Do our visual neuroscience findings actually replicate? And do they generalize beyond the datasets they were found in? We've lauched re:vision, a community-driven initiative to answer these questions, and we are looking for scientistis to participate. re-vision-initiative.org
A true @cogcompneuro.bsky.social PRO of course brings last years’s cup to #CCN2026 ☕️😎 First coffee in NYC, soooo good to be back! 🤩
CCN began at Columbia in 2017. As #CCN2026 returns to New York City, a special Back2NY event will feature a crowd-sourced panel discussion on how the community has grown, prior challenges, and future perspectives. Share your experiences in the community survey: 2026.ccneuro.org/back2ny/
CCN 2028 will be hosted in North America again! We invite researchers & institutions to submit a proposal for 2028. Organizing chairs don't just host — they help shape CCN's organizational and scientific identity. Submit your proposal 👇 2026.ccneuro.org/host-ccn-pro... #CCN2028

Hey video-aficionados #VSS2026, this morning @sargechris.bsky.social presents our recent ICLR paper on benchmarking video ANNs on human EEG, suggesting an extended phase of mid-level video feature processing beyond the feed-forward sweep! (Pavilion 425) (paper here: openreview.net/pdf?id=bSsNS...)
Looking forward to this! Come and hear how you can participate!
Today at #VSS2026 we are introducing re:vision, a community driven replication/generalization initiative based on our newly released LAION-fMRI dataset. Come to the satellite at 2pm to learn more about it & why you may want to participate! The room Blue Heron is in the upstairs region of the lobby.
I'm proud to say we are releasing LAION-fMRI, a densely sampled 7T fMRI dataset of natural images, with very broad stimulus sampling for testing countless hypotheses and for deeply exploring brain representations. The dataset is now available at laion-fmri.hebartlab.com What does LAION-fMRI offer? 🧵
LAION-fMRI - a 7T fMRI dataset of human vision
LAION-fMRI (LfMRI / LAION MRI dataset): 5 subjects, 25,052 launch-release natural images, 165 acquired 7T fMRI sessions with single-trial GLMsingle betas, retinotopy, localizers, and diffusion.

📣 New preprint by a stellar team 🤩 I’m most excited by “phase III” in the alignment time course, which is best captured by mid-layers of temporally integrating video models! While we do not directly compare with image-EEG (yet - will do so in the #VIDI) I suspect this is unique to video vision 🎥🔥
📢 New preprint, together with @sargechris.bsky.social! Building on @sargechris.bsky.social's previous work, we benchmark 100+ image and video models 🤖 on brain representational alignment, this time to EEG data of humans 🧠 watching videos! 🧵⬇️ www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
Pleased to share that our survey "Getting aligned on representational alignment" — on representational alignment across cognitive (neuro)science and machine learning — is now published in TMLR! openreview.net/forum?id=Hiq... Kudos to @sucholutsky.bsky.social @lukasmut.bsky.social for leading this!

What is representational alignment? How can we use it to study or improve intelligent systems? What challenges might we face? In a new paper (arxiv.org/abs/2310.13018 ), we describe a framework that attempts to unify ideas from cognitive science, neuroscience and AI to address these questions. 1/2
Honoured to receive an NWO #VIDI grant to study 'the TikTok Brain': representational alignment of brains and deep nets for #video! I'm hugely thankful to the anonymous reviewers for their enthusiasm and for the opportunity to grow and sustain my lab. Job ads coming soon! www.nwo.nl/en/news/149-...
149 Vidi applications granted to talented researchers | NWO

Our exciting new preprint emphasizing the role of texture/local statistics in brain-DNN alignment (for EEG), online now!
🧠 New preprint: Why do deep neural networks predict brain responses so well? We find a striking dissociation: it’s not shared object recognition. Alignment is driven by sensitivity to texture-like local statistics. 📊 Study: n=57, 624k trials, 5 models doi.org/10.1101/2025...
