📝 New paper out in PRSB on plant-epiphyte network recovery after invasive plant removal in the endangered Scalesia forest, Galapagos! We show that: 🌿 Restoration increases epiphyte richness, 🌳 large mossy trees promote recovery, and 🌱 Scalesia is a keystone host. More info 👉 doi.org/10.1098/rspb...

Yesterday, we had our inaugural Ecosystems and Global Change “away-day” meeting. Bringing together BC3's #ecology groups, we had a great day discussing past and future directions, learning more about each other’s research and of course enjoying a nice dip in the ocean. 🤝🌿⛱️🌞 #BC3research

Several team members from Basque Centre for Climate Change across different research groups. All posing on the beach, with the ocean in the backdrop. Individuals hiking along a coastal route. Several people walking down stairs to the beach. Vista point of the rocky coastal shores of the Basque Country.

Happy birthday to Sir David Attenborough, whose life & voice have inspired generations to care for the living world. 🌍 On his 100th birthday, we celebrate his extraordinary legacy as he join the Natural Centenarians’ Club, alongside some of nature’s most remarkable wonders. Swipe to see more 👇

Great day in the field yesterday with @isatxu.bsky.social and our master's student Iñaki! We established the first part of a chronosequence to look at the dynamics of forest restoration in the Urdaibai biosphere reserve. Some decent native forest nearby will serve as a reference.

Why do so many ecologists share common feelings of disconnection between their research goals and real-world impact? 🌍 Our new article in #FE&E explores the constraints that limit ecological research and how we can mitigate them. 👇 esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

Back home after a wonderful week! Learning so much about metabarcoding 🧬thanks to the workshop organized by @nclneg.bsky.social, followed by inspiring plenaries, talks & posters! Loved catching up with 🫶🏼friends & meeting new generation of net ecologists. Already looking forward to the next one in 🇧🇷!

Here’s sneak peak of our latest expedition to Cabo de Hornos. The biodiveristy, incredible, and crossing Beagle channel while being so close to Antartic was truly an experience. Now, still some days left to work in Navarino! 🪲🌱🐛🪰🕷️🌿🐧 @annatraveset.bsky.social
