Middle school US history teacher, lover of public schools, proud union member, expert in Real Housewives and the extended 90 Day Universe and also I do like some other stuff I just don’t talk about it as much.

One of the problems is that this is a lie. They aren’t teaching “about” AI, they are teaching teachers to use AI. Teaching about ai, how it works, where the content is derived from, the harms it causes to people’s ability to think independently, the environmental impact…do that. But that’s not this.

“Teaching educators about AI is a ‘moral imperative’, said Randi Weingarten, the AFT president.” “And without outside funding, it was a choice between taking big tech’s money or doing nothing, she said.”

I don’t know anyone with children who would allow them to go through this. The result is going to be everyone with money to spare flocking to outside/private leagues and girls whose families can’t afford it just won’t play sports. Which in turn will just widen the gap…

An initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play

The Campaign to Force Genital Exams on Girl Athletes Soon Washington State could require sex-verification tests for those playing sports in schools.

Today in my algorithm is really annoyingly targeted for the very specific vulnerabilities of women my age, I am seeing nonstop ads trying to get me to buy the 2026 version of a thigh master.

People keep telling me MySpace is coming back and I just really need to know if they are reviving our old accounts or starting fresh because if they’re reviving the old accounts can we have like one day of only the user can see it or something 😬?

Correctly labeling a map of Africa is a good example of a thing I could do without the use of any AI, and if the AI can’t do something that simple correctly, tell me again what its value is?

My internet was out for approximately 12 hours and I have to say I really think we made a mistake when we decided it would be a good idea to have all of our entertainment on the internet. No tv. I didn’t have a book downloaded. I couldn’t even do a crossword puzzle!

Did I just spend too much money on new pens for the new school year? Yes. Am I patting myself on the back for buying them directly from Pentel and not amazon or Target? Also yes. Is someone about to tell me why Pentel is also a bad company? Probably. But I love those energel rtx liquid ice so much.

I continue to get automated messages for a person who clearly accidentally gave their doctor the wrong number. I feel very bad that I have no way to tell anyone this, because there is literally no option to reply or respond in a way a human will get the message. Technology is awesome!

It’s funny to me to see the difference in response to colleges offering majors in TikTok and social media versus colleges offering AI majors because uhhhhh people have actually made money and careers out of TikTok?

Everyone on the Ultimatum is terrible but I’d really like to have some words with this one dude who keeps making comments about being with someone who likes to work out and “take care of herself” as some kind of dig at his current partner.

Just thinking about the time somebody on here yelled at me for saying stores should just have a reasonable number of employees and stop locking up everything because I just didn’t understand how hard it was for the poor companies or something.

As a certified professional pickle lover, Heather Dubrow’s two pickles on a plate is performative nonsense. A pickle snack is always eaten out of the jar while leaning over the sink.

I keep getting someone else’s appointment reminder texts and I feel very guilty that this wrong number situation means they’re going to miss their doctors appointments and also I’m sure this is some how an AI inflicted problem.

A neighbor just told me my dog was so well behaved and well is this what parents feel like when a teacher compliments their kid for behavior the kid doesn’t show at home? My dog? Well behaved? This one?

Trying to do a little planning for school and in what I’m sure is not shocking news, everything that Google has added to slides to “help” me with ai is actually making this much harder and much slower. Just get out of my way please and let me do my job that I know how to do.

This is how I feel about every AI generated email I receive at work. Why should I take the time to read something you couldn’t take the time to write? My time is less valuable than yours? You care so little about this topic that you can’t be bothered but I’m supposed to care? It’s disrespectful.

I do not want to read what others did not care to write. Given the times we are living, is it unreasonable to ask authors to put in effort to make clear to their readers that their work is authentic? Same for journals btw. Would love to see a list of journals with a no AI policy. I’d support them
