I'm not normally one for leaving matches early, but left West tonight at six down on 68 mins - final score 0-7 (seven) against a newly-promoted Runcorn Town. An absolutely rancid display, in front of a healthy midweek crowd of 607. Still, at least we have our own branded craft ale.

Highlight of an awful match at Abbey Hulton Utd yesterday was Toby, the West-supporting Collie (aka The Greatest Dog in Football), being sent to the stand by the referee for allegedly nipping the ankle of the home right-back. He also had three touches before being removed (1 more than West's No 11).

I'm not going to celebrate the fact that one in three of the people who could be arsed to vote in the Greater Manchester region are racist filth. I accept the fact that extremist nutters are more likely to vote than any other group, but still, it's depressing.

First West game in the Midland League tomorrow (because Chorlton is somehow in the Midlands now!) and we're headed to sunny Stoke for a clash with *checks notes* Abbey Hulton United.

The furore surrounding the 'Making Plans for Nigel' t-shirt brings to mind Andy Partridge's brilliant tweet, in which he complained that it really should've been Colin Moulding who XTC's fans were harrassing.

Droylsden FC - I reckon this must be the first ever hoolie-related ground closure dished out to a ninth tier club. While the punishment is fully justified, I can't help feeling the net result will just be to attract more of the horrid little scrotes, revelling in the notoriety.

EFL back three weeks today. There's a current first-choice EFL goalkeeper who cried when my daughter thrashed him in a Stockport Schools' table tennis tournament. I'm not going to name and shame him though because a) he was a really nice lad and b) his dad's even bigger than he is!

If Pep decides to take the Italy job and they dominate international football for the next ten years under his guidance, there will still be those who scream "Chequebook manager. Let's see him win the World Cup with San Marino."
