A reminder, because it is almost that time of year: More children are killed by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year, by far. www.vox.com/future-perfe... If you're a parent, I hope you'll do what you can to keep kids safe. If you're driving on Saturday, PLEASE exercise extra caution.

A graph from Vox titled "Halloween is the deadliest day of the year for child pedestrians" with a graph showing a huge spike at October 31.

Bro is trying to centralize access to information and monopolize AI. It might be more efficient in the short term but horrible for users in the long term. We need to put more effort into distributed local and open source models. A SETI@home style project for distributed training anyone?

Artisan SakeMaker on Granville Island didn’t even ship its product out of Vancouver, last time I checked. That leaves YK3 in Richmond, B.C. and Ontario Spring Water Sake in Toronto’s Distillery District. I may be wrong, but I think all three have trouble meeting local demand.

I can never guess what things I post will get shared a lot; I’m glad people found this a useful summary of the grim reality of the tech tycoons. I said the other day that people usually think I’m crazy for about ~7 years, then they understand what I meant and get very sad and/or angry.

It’s worse than this. Having been in the room with many of them (long ago, before I knew they were psychopaths), the tycoons who are left running the industry have an active contempt for ordinary people, including their own workers. They actively want to oppress, control and punish them.

Gord’s out for a third encore and CBC gem doesn’t look like potato vision any more. Did they upgrade the servers in an act digital sovereignty?
