I just posted this to Instagram and I’m leaving it here too in case you need to see it….

Lots of you getting in touch to tell me how despairing you feel after this week's local election result so here are some reasons for hope:
- if it had been a general election, voting patterns would have produced a hung parliament not a Reform victory.
- Reform may be doing a lap of honour, but polling suggests their popularity has hit a ceiling of around 26% of the electorate and won't grow.
- one of the reasons for this is that Reform have painted themselves into a corner where they have to keep saying and doing more extreme things to appeal to their cultish, MAGA-like, perpetually online core supporters;
- BUT as I said last night on my show, analysis by @moreincommonk and others shows there is another type of Reform supporter, one who isn't necessarily racist or misogynistic, but just (understandably) fed up and disillusioned. Those voters don't like the culture war/extreme stuff and were put off by Yousef's
'detention centres in green areas' video, for example;
- if we can find a way to make this group of voters realise that Farage and Co aren't remotely 'anti establishment' in the way they pretend, they can be won back to the centre ground.

What’s your gaming hot take? I’ll go first: I think Bethesda hasn’t been good for the gaming industry because they’ve led to this push towards open world non linear experiences as well as normalizing shipping out games that are full of bugs. Not everything needs to be open world!
