I've accidentally started watching Nolan and I can't drag myself away from Diane Dodds' nonsense and Nolan's bizarre hairdo.

Back in January I volunteered to do a bit of gardening at @carnegieoldpark.bsky.social , and essentially volunteered my sister too. Life got in the way a bit so we took our time. But we've loved bringing these wooden planters #backtolife 🧵
A blackening wax cap which is apparently also known as witch's hat!
And i know it's a whole other kingdom, but these black fungi are giving my front garden a welcome Halloween vibe.
Plant-y kind of day. The fruit trees we planted as eco-collective a few years ago are bearing magnificent fruit. I think the canteen is interested so I nabbed one first. Delicious.
Fun fact: our first holiday when i was a kid was to Islandmagee. It was many years later that I learned it was neither an island, nor very far away from our house.
The house with the dolmen is up for sale again. www.propertypal.com/druids-alter...
First time growing broccoli cannot be described as a success. But, pretty flowers. Reminds me we grew Brassica campestris on PGCE as an illustration of an extended practical. Carrots trying to push themselves up, to tell me it's harvest time.
New neighbour. I think it's in that rowan tree. There's a rustle but as with the goldcrest, I'm resigned to never actually seeing it!
Any way to skip to the bit where everyone has realised ai churns out nonsense? I've just been subjected to several biology animations that are just all wrong. Wrong labels, wrong processes, wrong structures. But they look jazzy and if you don't know how saltatory conduction works, you'd use it. 😤
A good excuse to share this gorgeous video, Alan Rickman was a treasure. youtu.be/X4-gNN8WRHo?...

Cannot wait, beside myself with excitement. Claudia's wardrobe, Jerry Hall, Michael Sheen and just all of them! I have high hopes!
If you're already raging about the parade, whatever you do don't read P. Robinson's views on it. No idea why the Newsletter has sought his opinion, but honestly, what a load of predictable tripe.
Big week! Will I manage to ration myself to just one episode of Blue Lights tonight?
It remains insane to me that we're watching the PSNI and Parades Commission entertain the prospect of sending riot police in because they refuse to admit they fucked up
It also looks like the Parades Commission prioritised the PSNI stating they had no *evidence* violence or damage was likely over representations made that there was *potential* for serious disorder. These are 2 completely different things and the Parades Commission has ineptly picked the wrong one.
Proud of my dad on Facebook, quoting scripture to explain why the oo must go another way and it is incumbent upon the clergy to tell them that this would be the correct, biblical course of action.
I'm such an eternal optimist that I'm still able to imagine a world where they choose not to march.
I've thought about Joe many times this week. As I clear out my classroom, I'll be giving lots of my books away. But his are coming home with me. One of the good guys. It was a better world with him in it. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
Joe Harkness obituary
Writer, teacher and naturalist who explored the effects of the natural world on neurodivergency
theguardian.com
I've just read that Joe Harkness has passed away. Incredibly sad, he was such a great voice and advocate for neurodivergence, mental health and nature. A remarkable conversation between him and Chris Packham on Springwatch many years ago stopped me in my tracks. Such courage.
Maybe now i get that reaction to the sycamore tree, because I'm absolutely raging about this. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Beck's new album is alternately dropping me into a pit of melancholic devastation and lifting me onto a higher plane of beauty and joy. Absolutely incredible. youtu.be/t3OY0J6qF9k?...

Some of the flavour and randomness of old culture night is back. We'd a nice couple of hours, despite there being not a whole lot on. Unless it's all hidden somewhere.
What did I just watch? How can you get to 57 (i checked) without consuming a lentil?
Has he never tried Dhal? It's food from the Empire after all....:)
Big lad has climbed a mountain of admin, to organise this year in Brittany, get the passport, sort the accommodation and turn up to class yesterday and today. He chose Breton as a subject and is taken aback to realise it's taught in French 😬. But he'll manage. Very proud of him. Allez!!
Irish passport for big son is en route, so i now have to process that he is in fact going to France for a year of uni, and imminently 🥺
