An abandoned heritage asset amongst the jagged peace lines of North Belfast - support our #BackToLife efforts as Carnegie Centre for Weaving!
To me, a bobbin always has thread or wool wrapped round it. Could that be a kind of bobbin inside the shuttle in the sign?
That’s helpful thanks. (Wonder how @belfastcitizen.bsky.social made such an error? Don’t tell them!) #BobbinInHand
Bobbins to me are round and I would definitely call the item on the poster a shuttle. This as someone who grew up in the Scottish Borders whose rellies all worked in the Tweed mills.
Settle an argument! Our weavers call these wool holders ‘bobbins’ rather than the ‘shuttle’ in the photo? @belfastbooks.bsky.social

Here! Belfast Botanical Gardens Palm House? Or Tropical Ravine perhaps.
Close-ups of our new photos illustrating our #ArchitecturalFeatures tour of the library / look at those tiles! #BacktoLife hopefully
