There is pervasive corruption across our healthcare and agricultural systems that defy party lines. I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.

My advice to EU leaders (who aren't far right): Offer help to the country concerned if it’s asked for, express sorrow for the deaths of people who are being manipulated into crossing borders illegally. Investigate and publish any co-ordination. Remove benefits to countries that weaponise migration.

When I first started reporting on Germany's Energiewende in 2005, I heard repeatedly -- even from German energy bureaucrats -- that the goal of 20% from ALL renewables was a far distant dream that might be practically impossible

Apologies if I sound angry, but it is a real problem that the 'smart' commentary on this war is trying hard to avoid the core lesson ("the president is a fucking moron") because it doesn't sound very clever when it is absolutely the most important takeaway from this debacle.

I can see Don Draper waking up after an all-night bender with some student in her apartment, rolling up to the office with a massive hangover, pouring himself a double bourbon, and inventing this tagline 10 mins before the client meeting.
