A fun maths problem. I start by giving you 3 stitches. Then if you don't tell me where the diamonds are, I give you 4 stitches, then 5 stitches each time you refuse We repeat this until I give you 99 stitches in one round, at which point you bleed out and die. How many rounds till you're half dead

A fun math problem: I started with 3 stitches, next row increased to 4, then knit those 4 stitches again. I'm now knitting a four row repeat, increasing by 1 stitch every second row. I have to knit 99 repeats. I've just passed 52 rows, but when will I actually get to the halfway mark?

Why does no AI slopper ever say, we'll finish it off if you do the work to get it 75% complete? I'd still hate it but the tail end of a project is the bit that's less creative and more of a chore and if AI was vaguely competent (which it isn't) that'd be a much better contribution

These clowns want to cede the most important decisions in comics storytelling to a fucking bot. And you know this would lead to further underpayment of artists. Boycott any book or publisher that uses this.

Walk me through what the platform actually does. You put in a manuscript. The system spends time studying the story, including the thesis, the background, the protagonist, and the emotional beats that pay off for a reader, and produces a storyboard that gets you to roughly 60–70% of a finished product. Then an editor, the author, and an illustrator go in and shape that further, because a purely AI-generated output tends to lack soul and be generic. This is not a self-driving car. It's more like handing a Ferrari to someone who already knows how to drive.

Public transport opinion that's crystalised in my head today at work: There appears to be a sort-of myth among a lot of people that short bus routes are more reliable than long bus routes. I don't think that's true (until a point anyway), or rather it's sort of true but only because of odd reasons

this is extremely funny Simon Watts made Councils meet a three month deadline, which they all did. He set the September deadline for a decision, which he has failed to do. He is now using his self imposed deadline to criticise Councils annoyed that they did their part and he isn't doing his.

Honestly I've got some liberal/centrist sensitivities and I generally support holding your nose and voting for the least worst option in a first past the post environment but it's also a very hard ask of people who are very materially affected by this stuff

Holy shit, 15.5% for the Greens and Labour at 24%. They'll be a junior partner in any coalition. If TOP do actually get ~10% Hipkins couldn't bully any coalition partners away from major tax reform, because there'll be more Green, TPM and TOP MPs than Labour MPs.
