After we bought our weight in books at the Mark Twain Library annual book sale in Redding, Connecticut, we went to Redding and ate our weight in chocolate ice cream at Dr. Mike's in Bethel: Main Street (Rt 302). It doesn't get any better than this.

This is dreadful. According to @privateeyenews.bsky.social and other organs, the entity that was supposed to be keeping 90-year-old Sir Roy Strong's magnificent garden at the Laskett in Herefordshire up to standard has been failing, and it has been selling off the garden ornaments.

I am currently working on a research project into Canterbury’s French speaking, early modern Walloon Community. It's been calculated that in the early 17th C they numbered between 2-3,000, or a third of the city's population. They were mainly weavers of wool and later of silk.
