Soccer is my favorite sport and always will be, but Jesus Christ they've got to do something about this VAR issue. Every exciting moment devolves into legalistic nitpicking and standing around. For a match like this to end with Zapruder analysis and trigonometry is simply not fun!!!

I remember going to this game, Croatia v Portugal in Lens in the last 16 of Euro 2016. Ronaldo, Perisic and Modric all started. Absolutely nothing happened until the 117th minute when Quaresma scored the winner. Buckle up.

I've been watching Harry Kane for 15 years and yet I don't think he's ever taken my breath away quite like that. I don't have the adjectives to convey how good that was, especially that second goal. England has never had anyone like him.

In Euro 2016 England had 4 points from first two games. But they hadn't fully clicked yet. Hodgson made six changes for Slovakia - not all of them necessary - and they drew a terrible game 0-0. They never recovered their rhythm and lost to Iceland in the next game.

Really enjoyed watching Ecuador there. Totally won the physical battle against a Germany team who never looked like they fancied it. Ecuador are a proper team, well worthy of their place in the L32, and no-one will want to play them in the knock-outs.

Last night when we had the unofficial hydration break when Reece James got treatment and then the official sponsored hydration break straight after it reminded me of when in cricket a rain break is followed by lunch or tea. “Sometimes the World Cup doesn’t help itself” etc etc
