"Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, recently appointed to the role by the new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, meets Secretary of State Rubio in Washington" is one of those lines that would sound perfectly plausible to anyone in 2015, but explaining the intervening period would give them an aneurysm.

I've done a bit of a Wikiwalk about this and had the amazing revelation that one of the French agents behind the bombing later became a wildlife photographer and had one of his photos published under a pseudonym in a calendar for...Greenpeace. Most of them had been sold by the time they realised.

The Deputy Head of DGSE picking at his overcooked chicken supreme as he waits to hear if he'll get a Lifetime Achievement Award for the Rainbow Warrior.

the whole 'nothing has gotten better' discourse is of course fucking stupid in a million ways, but I just wanted to note that average dog lifespan in the United States has increased by two years since 2000.

My wife keeps taking the piss out of me for having a glass of milk before I go to bed and saying that I’mlike a six year old but the joke is on her because it just means I will have strong healthy bones and I’m a good boy.

A superb read, this. I hadn't realised that Arday had enlisted Carter-Ruck to try and spike a story about him by the Times Higher Education (getting Carter-Fuck should automatically mark you out as being a wrong 'un). This goes far beyond one person, as it always does.

Some notes by little me on recent, hugely damaging, shamefully shameless events at Cambridge University. rorywaterman.substack.com/p/notes-on-a-cambridge-debacle If you read only one article about what has happened, try the new piece by Lanre Bakare in the Guardian, linked in my blog post.

This person is a 1st Amendment supporter which I am surprised about given that it does allow the government to declare a State of Emergency during a "time of war" even if the war in question is one in which the state is a non-belligerent.
