oh wow I hate this I hate this I hate this I hate it soooooooooo much I hate it
This is such an great feature (Rebecca is great!), and I've been thinking about it for a few days. IMO, "Influencer" in the ten-years-ago sense was really a LOT of jobs (spokesmodel/copywriter/etc.) but now it's morphing, at least in part, into "intentionally annoying person" which feels worse.
genuinely why doesn't Google Maps have a setting you can tick that says "I will not in fact die on the spot if I have to walk for over 20 minutes and would prefer a walk and a tube to somehow seventeen buses"
he feels a sense of solidarity with a fellow leader who’s way too online and doesn’t do her homework before wading in
Why are you commenting if you don’t know the specifics of the case!!!!!
beautiful thread on the idea of spooks holding international awards for Spooking
Properly gone at the idea of having this awarded like a corporate award gigs in one of those massive but soulless business hotel ballrooms, with Romesh Ranganathan hosting.
I am going to be spending the rest of my day and possibly my week thinking about "Werner the Herzog" and quite frankly it's the last thing I needed
Juro que tem dias que eu acordo pensando nisso aqui:
This is a very good explainer of why the EHRC code is surprising even within the current case law This is a legislative issue, the law will need to change to unravel this mess, but a greater degree of accurate clarity for duty bearers on these points would make a big everyday difference until then
We have also written a detailed legal explainer about why we think the code of practice gets the law wrong.
You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.
just got interviewed by a foreign outlet about a Westminster thing and I always enjoy it so much when someone goes "so, the British [pause] please explain"
Not to go all Joxley, but the utter collapse of a sense of community pride and social responsibility within the Conservative party is at the heart of their current woes.
It's OK for criminal ex-neo Nazis to run your bins is a hell of a line.
gah, this is the bit I hate - I never use AI products and very much go out of my way to never interact with anything produced by AI (I'm not even on Linkedin!) so it will....make me worse at weeding it out of my life in the future? I just want to opt out! why can't I be allowed to opt out!
Stunning opening sentence to this piece www.theguardian.com/technology/2...
Bede's World! Bede's World! Party time! Venerable!
got a text today from an unknown number asking me if I'd seen Christopher Nolan's Odyssey and if I had any thoughts on it ... it turned out to be from a friend's new number, but for a while I really thought it was a devious new scam targeted at heterosexual men
can I just mention how delighted I am to have found out that the Official Monster Raving Looney Party helped make the pedestrianisation of Carnaby Street happen
understand why Ben decided to highlight the sentences he highlighted here but I would argue that the sentence that comes immediately afterwards was the real gut punch for me
Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.
real halfway point of the horror movie vibes in my Russia book as Yezhov has finally been demoted and shuffled out :) only to be replaced by his deputy, some "Beria" chap?
Wife is upset with me for referring to the new flexible garden hose as “turgid” when it has water in it.
I think this thread is basically what I believed when I began covering the consumer system and while a lot of what Nathan is describing is factually correct as to the mechanisms by which the system itself works, I’ve eventually had to admit that a lot of people also do just love cheap bullshit
I think this is fundamentally wrong but in an interesting way I will need to write about sometime. The key is a) consumers do not choose what is produced, or how, they choose between what is produced. This is a crucial difference
weather in London currently so disgusting I have to believe that it must be breaking the laws of physics and chemistry in some way, somehow I feel so warm and claustrophobic inside my own skin but it doesn't even feel that hot outside, how is this possible, how have things got worse
look i just think someone like this shouldn't be on the Labour NEC
alright fine I'll do this, it's either that or filing my tax return and it's just too hot to do that
1 like = 1 book question 📚💙
(think some people on here seem hellbent on trying to make me Marie Le Stancil but what they do not seem to realise is that I will never interact with a rude person online and I also love blocking on sight, so they very much have picked the wrong poster, apols if that is you)
Abandon your politics timeline for just a moment and behold his feathery magnificence. Marvel at the fluffiness. My pigeon hath just been bathed.
Imagining a guy disapproved of pervert glasses, not for moral reasons, but because of the lost craft and artistry of hiding in a bush with a telephoto lens
I mean this with love - I do! I like many Americans! - and I totally get that things are maddening over there and tempers are running high but lads you must realise that you really do keep ruining it all for the rest of us on here
love that my online routine is now "wake up, pleasantly post and talk to people for a few hours, panickedly restrict interactions to most posts are Americans begin waking up,"

I did assume that this was a case of a local organisation having totally lost the plot, but Kemi Badenoch is now forcefully and explicitly defending the selection of a former neo-Nazi with a significant criminal history as a candidate. Crackers and terrifying.
Kemi Badenoch certainly seems to be advancing with her agenda to turn the Conservatives into Reform.
