It's the #energy, baby. We can drill, drill, drill, but ppl make their choices. And they chose for the cheaper, cleaner, safer, more locally produced energy available. As they did it with nearly all technologies allowing for a shift from coal to electricity.

From Argentina to Australia and South Africa, recent devastation shows that while wildfires are not caused by a single factor, a warming climate makes them more frequent, more intense, and more destructive. The Wildfire Management Hub supports prevention and response: https://bit.ly/4bzoECV

Dense forest engulfed in flames and smoke illustrating the impact of climate change on worsening wildfires.

This -> “We usually think about warming as a gradual, quasi-linear change of temperature over time – it slowly gets warmer everywhere. But nonlinear changes occur across the entire system" In the #arctic non-linear changes are leading to more extreme weather events www.nature.com/articles/s43... 🧪

Weather and climate extremes in a changing Arctic - Nature Reviews Earth & Environment

Rare and extreme climate events have increasingly occurred in the Arctic since ~2000. This Review outlines the observed and projected changes in atmospheric, oceanic and cryospheric extremes and expla...

The misleading use of the *salvation* word and concept. They suggest solutions that may not *save* us, maybe just "delay" the problem, or "suspend" for some time. The only solutions are through cutting #emissions, optimizing/reducing consumption of natural resources

In @theguardian.com about geo engineering “If these ideas are otherwise harmless, and work, they might yet save us.”. No they won’t. The only “idea” that can save us is bringing greenhouse gases emissions to zero ! www.theguardian.com/environment/...

To help you see the utterly lunacy Norway's oil and gas policies, consider the 20000 km² area that yesterday was cleared for exploration - mainly in the Barents sea. What they show is the total exploration area in a red thick line. So where are the new areas? www.sodir.no/fakta/utvinn...

The area in the Barents sea now open for fossil exploration marked in thick red line. 20000 km2 of this area opened 9.5.2025.

Unbridled fossil supply expansionism stimulates demand. We're flooding Europe with cheap fossil fuels and telling ourselves a bullshit story about "energy security" to ease our consciences. Someone explain to me how putting the atmosphere on a high heat helps energy security?
