They have such silent flight I would not have known he was behind me if he hadn't called. I've never heard that particular call before. Sounded almost like a hawk which made me look up. The sun was on his high wings but has not reached down to the deck yet. Landed & did hooties in the tree. 2/2 #owl
Little Owls in a Drought. We've had no rain here since early May. In wetter summers the Little Owls would be here constantly hunting worms after dark - this last yr. The worms have migrated deep underground & so the owls have majored on small mammals & fledgling birds to raise their chicks. #Owls 🦉
