Jaime Harrison

Proud husband and father. Former Chair of the DNC.

Pump the brakes, folks. Context matters. I was the DNC Assoc. Chair in ‘18, & fundraising wasn't easy then either. It rises and falls every cycle. Ken Martin & the DNC have invested a historic amount in state parties, helping build the infrastructure that's already paying off in special elections.

“You don’t forget who showed up for you when nobody else would,” Sharpton said. Black voters have shown up for the Democratic Party again and again. SC hasn’t just cast votes in the presidential primary, time after time, it decided the nomination, & ultimately the presidency.

EVERYONE should read this! Before y'all start pontificating on what you think & which state should be first in the presidential nominating process, y'all need to read this. In fact, I'm not listening to Anyone talk about the subject if they haven't read what Mr. Harrison wrote here!

I wrote this because I believe as the DNC considers the ‘28 primary calendar, there’s a larger conversation we need to have about Black voters, political power, & the future of the Democratic Party. My latest: Keeping Faith with the Voters Who Kept Faith with Us. open.substack.com/pub/jaimehar...

I miss my friend Mr. Lewis. No matter how dark the moment, he always found the light. Not because he ignored the darkness, but because he believed ordinary people, through courage and love, could overcome it. That’s a lesson worth holding onto right now.

You can’t just vote D, you have to support democrats vocally. Donate, volunteer, don’t bash people working to get the message out. It’s on US to help. WE have to be part of the messaging. Constantly bashing Dems is hindering our chances. BE the messenger. It’s on ALL of us.

Y’all understand this is just his dress rehearsal. The unhinged, baseless claims of voter fraud. The attacks on the legitimacy of our elections. The SAVE Act is simply the groundwork to reject any result he doesn’t like.

Just checking in. How are y’all doing? Week 4 of shingles, and this thing is still a beast. My face is constantly itching, burning, or tingling. My eye feels like it has sunscreen in it all the time, and I still can’t sleep on the right side of my face.

The only people in America with a constitutionally guaranteed right to health care are prisoners. I asked Rachel Maddow why that is. She says how we treat that person becomes the story of our nation.

On America’s 250th birthday, this message feels just as important today as when I first shared it. I love this country. That’s why I’ll never stop working to help America live up to its highest ideals. That work isn’t finished. Now it’s our turn. 🇺🇸 Happy 250th Birthday, America.

This week's Sit Your Ass Down Award goes to Elon Musk, courtesy of Roger Wolfson. Great potential, he says, gone afoul by a system that empowers him too much. Nobody can slap him down, not even Trump: https://youtu.be/v-iyueS5Qoc

Roger Wolfson: From the Senate Floor to Hollywood | At Our Table

We sit down with Roger Wolfson to talk about storytelling, leadership, and why facts alone rarely change minds. A former Senate staffer, speechwriter, and Emmy-winning Hollywood writer, Roger brings a unique perspective shaped by careers in both politics and entertainment. We discuss what leaders can learn from great storytellers, why Democrats often struggle to connect with voters, and how authentic personal stories can inspire action in ways statistics never will. The conversation also explores misinformation, social media, artificial intelligence, and the growing challenge of helping people feel connected in an increasingly fragmented world. Roger's message is ultimately about hope: if leaders learn to communicate from the heart, they can rebuild trust, strengthen communities, and inspire a new generation to engage in public life. 00:00 Introduction & Why Stories Matter 02:00 Roger Wolfson's Political Origin Story 06:00 Working for Joe Lieberman, John Kerry & Ted Kennedy 08:00 Lessons from the Senate & Lindsey Graham 10:00 Paul Wellstone's Influence & Life-Changing Loss 11:00 Leaving Politics & Sailing Around the World 12:00 From Washington to Hollywood 15:00 The Work Ethic That Built a Screenwriting Career 18:00 Why Stories Move People More Than Facts 21:00 Great Storytellers in Politics 24:00 Cory Booker, John Lewis & Joe Biden 29:00 Storytelling as a Leadership Skill 32:00 The First Rule of Great Storytelling 36:00 What Is Blue Heartbeat? 40:00 Fighting Disinformation Through Storytelling 43:00 Building Connection in a Divided America 46:00 Jaime Harrison on Hope, Cynicism & Leadership 52:00 Rapid Fire Questions 55:00 The Sit Your Ass Down Award: Elon Musk 57:00 Who Are the Main Characters in American Politics? 59:00 AI, Social Media & The Future of Democracy 1:01:00 Final Thoughts & Blue Heartbeat Mission 1:02:00 Closing Remarks SUBSCRIBE & FOLLOW: 🔔 Subscribe to At Our Table on YouTube: / @atourtablepodcast 📩 Newsletter: https://jaimeharrison.substack.com 🎙️ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast... 🎧 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2qSQSDL... 🌐 Website: https://www.aotpodcast.com FOLLOW JAIME HARRISON: Instagram: / harrisonjaime Twitter/X: / harrisonjaime Threads: https://threads.net/@harrisonjaime FOLLOW AT OUR TABLE: Instagram: / atourtableshow Twitter/X: / atourtableshow Threads: https://threads.net/@atourtableshow TikTok: / at.our.table Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/atourtable.b... I asked Roger Wolfson what scares him most about social media. His answer: disinformation, and a business model built to atomize us into smaller and smaller groups until the only person you interact with is yourself: https://youtu.be/v-iyueS5Qoc

I say this with no ill will or animosity: if you hate the Democratic Party, then please don’t run for our nomination. Don’t use our resources. Don’t rely on our volunteers. Don’t use our infrastructure. Don’t ask Democrats to invest their time, money, and energy in your campaign.
