Chad Loder@chadloder.dev · 3h agoAbdul needs to do this work himself. You can't outsource this. It's on him to establish that bond of trust with the voters. Others can help, but the skepticism is real and only the candidate himself can really fix it.

But every time your favorite loses the Black vote it becomes someone else's job to get the blacks in line for them. You never demand that your new hero put themselves in front of Black voters.

Tom Nichols@radiofreetom.bsky.social · 2h agoThis is always such a dumb strawman. "GOPers won't vote for us!" Right. They won't. But *Dem voters* could decide to just skip it and stay home. Like they did in Michigan in 2016, and then again nationally in 2024. It's not about flipping voters, it's about the voters who stay home.
This is a solid thread on what El-Sayed should be doing. He's got to mend fences with Black and Jewish voters. If he manages that, he's got a legit shot in the fall. If not, he's toast. He can't count on a wave year to carry him. He's got to put in the work.

If he wants to win the general he’s got a few things he could do to maybe help his odds. I’m skeptical he’ll do them but he’ll need to humble himself. Not even breaking 49%, let alone 50% is a worst case scenario for him.
Cat "owners" would agree with the unequal status part of the argument, but question who has the position of superiority.

Much of this perception is due to Morris Katz flooding the zone with bullshit polls in the last week. Polls can be helpful, but you have to be informed with a healthy dose of skepticism.

GPS jamming wasn't the problem. It was the inability of these professional pilots to operate safely without GPS. They went visual in an area of high terrain, which was a mistake. They could have asked for vectors to the ILS, which would have provided terrain clearance. Tragic case of pilot error.

If there's a lesson to be learned from the struggles of the Talerico campaign in TX, it's that if you come out on top and weren't the pick of Black voters, you need to move quickly to mend those political fences quickly and take none of those votes for granted.

The *experience* of air travel in economy has gotten worse. But it's actually improved substantially in international business/first. No lie flat beds 40 years ago, no Polaris/Delta One lounges either. What has improved is safety. By a huge margin. Crashes are *rare*. The system is very safe.

They REFUSE to believe the FACT that Biden/Harris was and are progressive. So they call names.
There's also the 25th Amendment, which was designed to cover cases of temporary incapacity. But both are flawed, because they don't account for an entire political party being a co-conspirator in the criminal insanity. Make no mistake: the entire Republican Party is complicit in Trump's crimes.

There was no realignment. It was just a very anti-incumbent mood out there and Harris came within 1.5% in the popular vote. The "realignment" was Republican spin.

I tend to agree with this. They've got to be crushed without mercy or they'll try again. We got one shot at this. Fail and democracy is dead for the foreseeable future, with all that entails.

Worth noting that in 2018, Lauren Underwood and Haley Stevens each flipped a red House seat to blue and have held that seat ever since. The test of a party is the ability to win on the other party's turf. For all the talk of DSA ascendancy, they've not once flipped a seat.
