Mostly yapping (and sometimes writing) about video games! https://medium.com/@crystalcollect he/him

It’s fun to watch a community try to change a sub genre’s label/name in real time before it sticks forever Like, the most obvious way to rephrase “friendslop” would be to just call them “friendship” games but that sounds lame and boring so we’re getting stuff like “prox-chatters” instead

Fortune's Weave is bringing back the traditional Christmas cavalier! Fire Emblem games have historically had a pair of red and green colored knight units the community dubbed "Christmas cavs". They were a fun little series staple until some of the more modern games. Really cool to see them return.

With Fortune’s Weave offering parallel paths/simultaneous routes in one playthrough, I have to imagine that each path is considerably different than the others. Three Houses had some of the same maps for different routes and that would have been VERY tedious to do those back-to-back-to-back-to-back.

Just a heads up: if you’re trying to avoid the Nintendo Direct for Fortune’s Weave so you can go in blind, I respect that hell out of that BUT they reveled some major stuff in it. People will treat what was shown as promotional non-spoilers, so it’s probably going to be hard to dodge that stuff!

The Direct had some major info drops in it! Everything about the game looks great from my perspective as a Fire Emblem sicko. They're taking the reputational success of Three Houses and running with it hard! This has a very real chance to be the best game in the series for me.

I've learned to love games that spend less time on their narrative because most game narratives aren't that great anyways. I'm okay with the princess being in another castle! Capcom's stuff often has bad storytelling but it never feels like my time is wasted and I know what I'm getting going in

Now that Capcom games have been amazing for a while... is it time for them to start improving on narrative as well? www.resetera.com/threads/15...

Cheesing hard encounters in video games is always cool and based. Glitches, cheesing, mods, cheat codes, whatever. Playing with the way you can play a game rules and is a unique aspect of the medium. You don’t get Awesome Games Done Quick by coloring in the lines!

So far my single biggest issue with Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the navigation. Reminds me of how much of a pain in the ass questing in classic WoW could be. Shoutout to the motherfucker who designed this game’s compass because it’s gotta be one of the worst of all time! The WOAT! 👏

Well, when you put it like that this starts to sound mighty cartel-y. The only thing that'd make this more suspect was if the CEO of Nvidia and AMD, despite ostensibly being the only two competitors in the space, were actually super clos-- Oh Jensen Huang and Lisa Su are cousins, you say... Huh...

For many people, Halo Campaign Evolved seems like it should be an easy improvement over the original Halo, on paper at least. Better graphics, sprint, zoom on all guns, level streamlining/fat trimming. All sorts of things that people think could make the game better. And yet...

Halo Campaign Evolved is very pretty and plays very well and it’s also something I will likely play once and then go back to classic Halo and the Master Chief Collection
