Ontario has been handed a devastating overall grade of D- in the latest Food Banks Canada Poverty Report Card, driven by skyrocketing housing instability, failing social safety nets, and the weakest job market performance in Canada.

Canadian greenhouse profit margins plummeted from 9% to 5% due to input cost inflation. Small produce businesses saw margins drop from 18.6% down to 8.5%, medium businesses dropped from 21.4% to 9.8%, and large operations dropped from 16.7% down to 11.3%, leaving local farms highly vulnerable.
