I'm going on holiday tomorrow. To the Pyrenees. I don't often go on holiday so this is quite exciting. For someone who travels so much, home is like holiday. But this time I'm looking forward to proper holiday.

I think it was @jamiegoode.bsky.social who first drew my attention to the Bussaco Palace Hotel which is home of the best house wine I've ever seen. And available in pleasing levels of maturity. This 2001 was on the 2nd page of vintages available for their white!

A pic of the outside of the hotel which is wildly decorated in a extravagant 19th Century gothic style.A half bottle of the 2001 white next to a glass. Deeply amber in colpur.

My take: breakfast is the least important meal of the day. Skip it. Just drink tea or black coffee, and take some water. If you must eat something, make it savoury. No sugar. And definitely no fruits or juices (too much sugar).
