Explored the Jewish Museum and (still operational) synagogue in Belmonte, Portugal. It hit me after that there was no police or security presence at all. We were welcomed in both places- no id checks or anything. I can't remember the last time I went to a synagogue that open and accessible.

Was reviewing video of some old talks, and was reminded of @raulpachecovega.bsky.social's generosity - he took the time to attend a talk I gave in 2022 on translational research and kicked off the discussion with the first question.
