My life mission is to encourage 8 billion humans & the powerful AIs to adopt the Sentientism worldview: "evidence, reason, & compassion for all sentient beings" - thereby solving all the world's problems :) https://bsky.app/profile/sentientism.bsky.social
Humans: Our #FoodSecurity is challenged by climate change and global conflict! 🚨😱 Also Humans: So let's keep feeding about half of our global crops 🫘🫛🌽🌱 to sentient animals who we'll then exploit, kill & eat, so destroying >90% of the nutrition from the crops🤯 #foodwaste
The vet to patient ratio in the animal agriculture and fishery industries is instructive when compared to companion animal ratios.
The environmental movement rightly criticises the world for its “Don’t Look Up” attitude ❌ 👀 ⬆️ But the environmental movement is pure “Don’t Look Up” when it comes to the catastrophic ethical and environmental impacts of animal agriculture.

If you’re going to be an authoritarian neo-fascist, at least be up front about it. Instead of pretending you’re defending “Western liberal democratic values”. (Yes, I’ve just listened to a 90 min interview with Elon. Many such examples.)
The #deforestation from forest fires 🔥 can grow back. The #deforestation from animal agriculture and feed crops can’t.
If you have a good worldview, please take it more seriously. If you have a bad worldview, please take it less seriously.
What has caused more global #deforestation? Forest fires or animal agriculture?
If an aspect of our culture needlessly harms others then we should change that aspect of our culture.

As children, before we were indoctrinated, we knew that there wasn't much difference between stabbing a puppy and stabbing a pig. And we also knew that there wasn't much difference between stabbing someone directly and paying someone to do it for us.
Humans obsessing over the moral implications of potentially sentient AIs as if they're at all interested in the moral implications of definitely sentient nonhuman animals in slaughterhouses & fisheries🤷♂️ Don't we want to be consistent? @sentientism.bsky.social

Almost as bad as feeding 78% of the global soy crop to brutally exploited, emissions generating farmed animals, thereby destroying ~90% of its nutritional value. ourworldindata.org/land-use-diets
If the world adopted a plant-based diet, we would reduce global agricultural land use from 4 to 1 billion hectares
We could reduce the amount of land used for grazing and croplands used to grow animal feed.

We're destroying what remains of the world's rainforests for biofuels that aren't benefitting the climate at all, & the Trump admin's unprecedented expansion of the state-manufactured market for soybean oil-based diesel will make it all the worse. It really be that bad :(

And the reason dehumanization is so dangerous? It's because of how we think about nonhuman animals. Our anthropocentrism. Our human supremacy. Our casual derogation, objectification, vilification. Ending those via @sentientism.bsky.social will help us end all the intra-human discriminations too.
"Metaphors that identify other human beings as pests, deadly animals, reptiles, parasites, disease, filth, zombies, or demons, are extremely dangerous rhetorical devices. As the case of Charlottesville also shows, such metaphors have a powerful impact on human thinking."
Weird that this pro-growth talk didn’t mention the two big Tory policies that deliberately undermine UK 🇬🇧 growth: Brexit and migrant-bashing. I hope the opportunities of reversing both are covered in the book. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/l...

If your first questions, when you come across the #Sentientism worldview, include: - “Who or what do I worship & submit to?” - “Where do I fit in the hierarchy?” - “What should I believe?” - “Am I allowed to leave?” Your expectations may have been shaped by other worldviews.
We focus on #SentientistPolitics, #SentientistEconomics and #Sentientist [insert all the other fields here], because, whenever an “animal” field is seen as optional & separate from the mainstream human field, the door remains open to the ongoing exploitation of nonhuman sentients.
Anthropocentrism, even our obsession with the human, doesn’t just destroy our ethics. It warps our epistemology too. So many debates about the nature of reality are trapped into circling purely human psychological and sociological conceits. Forever marvelling at ourselves.
If we all agree we should be kind to sentient animals then why slaughterhouses?
‘If you’re Ⓥ all year -you’re a spiritual All-Star’ ⭐️ -quote fr Pete Patitsas, the Greek Orthodox doctor who debated on meat-eater side. Aside fr misrepresentation of veganism as a simple dietary choice vs stance against all animal use, it is a very telling statement www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPe3...

The wilful disregard of incontrovertible facts & rude behaviour on display throughout this debate was cringe to say the least 😬 Or are the majority simply incapable of critical thought on the spot? I refuse to believe we can’t do better than this… #JackSymes #Jubilee www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsNB...
What could be worse than genocide? Imagine deliberately exterminating every member of a group. But, while you’re working through the slaughtering, forcibly breeding even more members of the group so you can kill them too. A never-ending, always escalating genocide.
We can’t do ethics only with values. They’re not enough. We need facts too. That means we need an epistemology. Better make it a good one! One driven by reality. To give us the best shot of understanding reality. So we can make reality better.
