#31DaysOfGraves Day 21: Air Chairs in St Mark's churchyard, Portobello, Edinburgh During lockdown, graveyards were great to get some fresh air and meet others. He has no grave but Sir Patrick Geddes (1854–1932) viewed fresh air, sunlight, and green spaces as essential in urban environments.

It's been a momentous week. Our youngest has moved out, to a flat just yards away from where I first lived 40 years ago. Her older sister is off on a solo adventure and, we're taking care of our grandchild while his mum, our eldest of the three, is at work. Where the hell did the years go?

#31DaysOfGraves Day 18 - Earth The Howff, Dundee "I Know that my Redeemer liveth. And that he shall stand at the Latter Day upon the Earth and Though after my skin worms Destroy this body, yet in my Flesh Shall I See GOD." I also really like this grave in Edinburgh which the earth is reclaiming

#31DaysOfGraves Day 15: language Very worn Latin inscription, St Cuthbert's kirkyard, Edinburgh Vita quid haec? Mors est; moriendo frangimus aevum. Procedunt juncto vitaque morsque gradu. Sed Christus mortis victor, Janua Vitae: Mors nostra ipsius mortua morte jacet. Translation in alt text

What is this life? It is death; by dying we break short our time.

Life and death advance with linked step.

But Christ, conqueror of death, is the Gate of Life:

Our death lies dead through His own death.Bild

#31DaysOfGraves Day 12: Ordinary I've many questions about this simple stone I saw in St Nicholas Kirkyard, Aberdeen - What did James sell? - Was there anyone waiting for him in London? - Was he feeling ill when he reached Aberdeen? Or was it just an ordinary day when he died far from home?

#31DaysOfGraves Day 7: Home St Clements ('Four Weddings & A Funeral') West Thurrock A mass grave for the victims of the 1915 Cutter Disaster. Their home was HM Training Ship Cornwall. Heavy industry replaced homes and the church fell into disrepair. It was saved by neighbour Procter & Gamble.
