Labour and Co-op Party MP for Lewisham East.

Polls are open until 10pm, and I spent this morning campaigning again for Sagal Abdi-Wali 🌹 Her passion for Holborn and St Pancras is clear, and she has been volunteering and working for this community all her adult life. For hope and visibility in Parliament, vote Labour, and vote for Sagal!

As part of the Labour Government’s neighbourhood health approach, I’m pleased that family support is expanding in Lewisham, including the roll-out of the Healthy Babies programme. Services will be closer to families, giving every baby the best start in life. www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

One of my motivations in politics is to build an inclusive, cohesive society like the one we have in Lewisham. This includes RE and to teach children about all the faiths and respecting people for their beliefs. Delighted to meet NASACRE today, as their patron. 🤝

A fantastic afternoon yesterday at the charity cricket match organised by Lewisham Mosque 🏏 A brilliant community day with cricket, children’s football, henna, delicious jerk chicken from Carty1 Caribbean, and even Lewisham vs Penge in the Sunday League! ⚽️ Thanks for hosting me. Come on Lewisham!🙌

The health of children is always a huge priority for me. I am so pleased that the @london.gov.uk ULEZ are already bringing improved health outcomes for children, with latest evidence showing that the lung health of young people is improving. www.independent.co.uk/news/health/...

I attended the vigil for Professor Arday in Trafalgar Square, where people from all backgrounds and generations gathered to pay their tributes to his memory, including dignitaries and other speakers. The sadness and feelings of injustice were clear. His family remain in my thoughts and prayers.

There was so much to see at #CorbFest over the weekend, and I was inspired to see stalls from local residents showing their talents. I left with far too many lovely things, including a hand-drawn card by local resident Jane Kemp. What a pleasure to have it held in the heart of the Corbett Estate!

Tonight’s the night! It’s great to see Bellingham put on the map, and having scored four goals in the World Cup so far, it’s only right to recognise Jude’s achievements ⚽ Come on England, bring it home!

Too many children from visually diverse ethnic backgrounds find themselves over-policed and under-protected. The independent report on police leadership confirms police leaders are unable to meet the needs of the public. I welcome the Government’s long-term commitment to addressing these issues.

For Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week, Cllr Kim Powell and I met with Lewisham Police to discuss cases in Hither Green. I'm proud to work in partnership with constituents, police, Cllrs and others to make sure that anyone experiencing anti-social behaviour does not feel isolated or alone.

The reports of violence against women and girls taking place in Sudan are horrific, but we shouldn't look away. I took this concern to the Government, and asked about the steps being taken to protect women and girls in Sudan. Watch my question here ⬇️

This week is #ASBAwarenessWeek, and the key to resolving these issues is collaboration. I have recently been working with a group of concerned constituents and the Police, councillors, and accommodation providers to ensure that residents can have their voices heard and feel safe in their homes.
