June 6: 72 years ago today thousands of men (& a few women) crossed the English Channel to Normandy. Many didn't come home. We owe them for our democracy and our freedom. Please read this article by Charlie Angus/The Resistance and listen to the song, and watch the accompanying video, at the end.

Canadian friends: While posting on the socials is easy & no bad thing, it is, in the main, speaking to your own bubble who likely hold the same views as you when it comes to the need to vote so that Mark Carney remains prime minister.
Why Canadians boycotting US goods is a good thing.
Raywat Deonandan 🍁🇨🇦@deonandan.bsky.social · 2y agoIn 2023, value of US exports globally was $2 trillion. Exports to Canada alone amounted to $353 billion, or close to 18% of the total. On the other hand, the value of Canadian exports to USA is 86% of our total, or close to $440 billion. (Thread [1/5])
Oh Canada! A strong and proud country. A kind and welcoming country. I am proud to be a Canadian. 🇨🇦
Kelly@broadwaybabyto.bsky.social · 2y agoAs Canada and the U.S. enter a trade war after spending decades as friends, neighbours and allies … I want to tell everyone a story about 9/11 Years ago I was asked to go to a Canadian college to see a workshop for a musical about 9/11. I scoffed. A musical about what now? 🧵
Distractions when #amediting: Delivery guy comes up driveway carrying large box of dog food. Editorial assistant goes wild barking, delivery guy leaves box at door & walks off, ed ass't reduces level of barking, delivery guy comes back, rings doorbell, pandemonium! Did he think I hadn't noticed?
With it being minus 27 with the windchill in Toronto, today's an excellent day to stay inside with the dog (aka the editorial assistants) and get on with editing and related tasks. #amediting #freelancelife #freelanceediting #academic #law #socialsciences

Cann anyone help my friend @ayeshachari.bsky.social here? She's looking for an app to doodle on.
Ayesha Chari@ayeshachari.bsky.social · 2y agoI'm looking for an android mobile app to doodle on, or one that can convert pics of doodles on paper to digital images that can be used on say a website or as an email signature. Ideally something free to try out. What do folks use / recommend? #DigitalDoodling #AmEditing (not)
Such an interesting discussion at the #CIEP Cloud Club West 'local' group today. All about changing expectations of – and for – copyeditors. How the editorial profession is developing, both good and bad. And editorial vs publishing training. #AmEditing #Editing #CPD

So touching to go outside and find "I love you" written in pink chalk in the (shared) courtyard/driveway, with a big, long pink arrow going all the way to your front door. The little kids next door are the best! #neighbourhood
Though I am certain I wasn't missed, I'm glad to be back after a couple of months not active in these here parts. I'd almost forgotten what a pleasant place it is.
Even though I've been saying it for at least six years, it's well worth repeating: I love TextExpander. I saves me so much, and saves me my sanity. And I love the weekly reports telling me how much time I saved in the previous week. #AmEditing #EditorsOfWords #Editors #FreelanceEditors
