I wish people outside of Canada would stop trying to tell us we are actually "American." We never ever ever call ourselves American. Please respect how we refer to ourselves.

The man who proclaimed to the world that “white solidarity is the only way to survive” is incapable of grasping his own pathetic supremacism because, he insists, he got a half-Indian person pregnant. I’m sick of hearing how “smart” this dull, self-adoring, half-wit bigot is.
The Economist: "People say that you're a racist. What is the motivation for doing that?" Elon Musk: "My partner is... she's half-Indian and... I have four children with her. One of them was named after a famous Indian physicist. So I would say I'm not racist."
Pierre Berton said that a Canadian is someone who knows how to have sex in a canoe. I can't confirm this, but I can confirm that a Canadian is someone who knows that American beer is like sex in a canoe: fucking close to water.
Had a wonderful in-person meetup with fellow @editorscanada.bsky.social members! Great coffee and conversation. It's always so nice meeting and talking with @freshlookediting.ca! #AmEditing #TheEditorLife #PatioCoffee
Will Farage, Musk etc be condemning white people in general for the actions of this violent white person, and advocating rage or violence in response? Will the BBC be laundering their 'legitimate concerns' about those white folks?
Alina Burns, 19, of Lynton Road in Bristol, admitted attempting to murder Mohammed Mahmoodi, outside a barber's shop in Bristol. Burns approached Mahmoodi from behind and swung the axe at his neck. He was able to wrestle the weapon away from her before she could strike him again.

I grew up watching cricket, which meant listening to a lot of different Englishes. When I wrote some of that English in school, I was mocked and reprimanded by my English teacher. Why? Cuz I didn't follow all the rules she was teaching us. This is a good reminder why it's okay to break "rules".
Your occasional reminder: "good grammar" is different from "clear" or "coherent" and serves a different purpose. sesquiotic.com/2018/12/25/1...

As long as we communicate, we're not going to stop misinformation. But we can resist it. #Editors26
First, we look inward. We look at our editing. We work to break down barriers. And we work to be more inclusive, opening the doors to others who have been traditionally left out. #Editors26
Misrepresentation occurs when the people being written about are not the ones doing the writing and editing. #Editors26
Asking curious questions rather than accusing someone of ethical concerns can be helpful for having the conversation. #Editors26
Say you're an editor without saying you're an editor. That's how you think about your superpower. #Editors26
Language is how we understand the world around and we create language together. #Editors26
