When I warmly embrace my mom this Thanksgiving, knowing this could be my last one with her (and no more with my dad), what I’m actually doing is fascism. Good luck Wisconsin!!

#BikeNYC #YNWA Married father of 2 living in Brooklyn. I’m not a “cyclist” - we just use cargo e-bikes instead of cars since it’s much more convenient to get around with kids.
I’m not even a Wisconsin resident but I think it matters that liberal votes are worth 1/2 of conservative votes.
I think you're out of touch and probably need a hug, too angry about things that don't matter. I don't be grudge it because I've been there
Funny how she filmed this on one of the legal places to ride an e-bike on the sidewalk. Of course they’d be traveling perpendicular to the sidewalk, not parallel.
Every New Yorker deserves to move around our city freely and safely, regardless of how they get around. That’s why the NYC Council is launching a comprehensive review of where existing laws can be stronger enforced, and what additional solutions are needed to keep New Yorkers safe.
It’s hard to think of a bigger professional failure than Michael Powell. This was his beat and he spent all his time lecturing college students to be less confrontational with authority. They’re outlawing majors by crook and by hook. They’re outlawing free speech you dumb fuck.
President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/aaAEu6v

When Uber Eats and DoorDash hid the tip button, delivery workers paid the price. Tips fell by 79%. In January, we changed that. Since then, more than $104 million has gone back into the pockets of the delivery workers who keep New York City fed.
The public really has no idea how traffic bottlenecks work, and governments everywhere have a lot to answer for that.
I wrote about this NYC congestion pricing study earlier this year, noting that most driving time savings accrues to people who never venture into the zone at all (i.e., driving within Queens or Long Island). IOW some of the most vociferous critics of CP are among its biggest beneficiaries.
In 10 years (or less) her ally’s will be saying. She’s not a “real woman” either. You’re 6’3”. You think they give a fuck about your chromosomes. Have some self-preservation please (she can’t because modern conservatism is a suicidal death cult that perpetually seeks new targets to demonize)
Jesus Christ. Sophie Cunningham fully embracing the right wing grift.
I think t’s a conspriary theory but I’m not going to litigate that. I’m here to comment on the beautiful GM building and its multiple wings. Detroit doesn’t have the housing crisis NYC (and others) have but I’ve always throught it’d be a great reso conversion bc those wings mean narrow floor plates.
Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.
I’m a Tigers fan. They weren’t going to win the WS this year and they got a decent return for him, which is a lot better than nothing. They got his best years for cheap and they’re still feeling the last years of Miggy’s contract and still are paying Baez [PCA!] www.nytimes.com/athletic/748...
What bugs me about Dodger Discourse is that it shifts the focus off of genuine malfeasance by other teams. The Tigers just quasi-quit on a playoff race that they're very much still in! Who did that to their fans? It wasn't Boras, Manfred, or the LAD
Why do I half remember Dip-N-Dots as being astronaut ice cream? Because when I think about it, astronaut ice cream was just dehydrated ice cream. But isn’t that just meringue?
only the sophisticated millennial palate can appreciate dip-n-dots
You know retail politics has died when you believe the Jews killed Jesus but you’re unwilling to give thanks to your Jewish constituents for, and on, Easter.
NEW: Corporate media zero in signs of antisemitism on the left. Meanwhile, one of Rep. Haley Stevens's most powerful backers in her Senate race attends a Bible study that teaches that the Jews killed Jesus...
Just finished Vineland. Glad to learn from this podcast that Post-modern novels are supposed to hard to read. Because I was beginning to think I was a poor reader. Maybe I don’t need to read Gravity’s Rainbow. Now which of these 4 library books should I read next? podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/z...
Which train car is the best one to sit in to get the quickest transfer to the Airtrain at Jamaica via LIRR from Atlantic Terminal?
I actually heard exactly this from an MTA employee, that the free pass they get is not the best idea because it detaches them from experiencing the agency’s main product bsky.app/profile/thel...
A major reason OMNY went off the rails is that nobody at the MTA actually pays fares! So they are almost completely disconnected from the reality of how those of us who do pay our fares go about it (and how it influences travel habits) and their too aloof to put themselves in riders' shoes
And that guy endorsed Abdul back in November! He’s Jewish and she tried the same shit to defeat him in 2022. She’s so gross.
Stevens primary victory over Andy Levin (backed by AIPAC to take Levin down) was a particularly ugly fight, so the way she’s positioning herself and El Sayed vis à vis Jews and antisemitism is … certainly a choice.

It's especially galling that Haley Stevens is portraying herself as the great protector of the Jews in her campaign against a Muslim candidate, given that in 2022 she beat a wonderful Jewish Congressman in a costly primary in part by accusing him of being insufficiently pro-Israel.
The media and political establishment howling that Mamdani violated sacred norms of moderation, fairness, sensitivity to all New Yorkers, and keeping a narrow municipal focus when he talked about war crimes was awfully quiet while all this other stuff was going on: hellgatenyc.com/how-mamdani-...
It remains insane to me that Michelle Obama and Sam Kass were subjected to a right-wing culture-war campaign and absurdly caricatured over their modest healthy eating initiatives, but RFK Jr. is supposed to be a beloved MAGA/MAHA food guru just because he joined Team Trump and hates vaccines.

I do not want to participate in this discourse anymore. Damn you NPR for sending me this notification. I chant to myself over and over: People are entitled to their opinion. People are entitled to their opinion…..
I’m trying not to get mad at The Review but part of what I found so disconnected was I listened to so many less “credentialed” movie and film podcasts where those reviewers got so much more nuance and themes that she missed but Right!! Those podcast “friends” are professional film reviewers!
Socialists for small biz owners! Let’s preserve the means of production for the most benevolent of capitalists who cannot profit without state intervention.
This morning, I stood with small businesses outside a vacant storefront in Chinatown, now advertised for an outrageous $16,000 a month. I am proud to co-sponsor the Small Business Rent Stabilization Act, which would create reasonable standards for commercial lease renewals.

Guyana is riding high on an oil boom. But can the world's fastest-growing economy outrun the resource curse that has afflicted other petrostates? After spending a week in Georgetown, I came away less optimistic. Check out my feature for @opinion.bloomberg.com www.bloomberg.com/opinion/feat...
Oil’s Curse Is Hanging Over the World’s Fastest-Growing Economy
Can Guyana outrun the mismanagement and corruption that have afflicted so many other petro-states?

Just massive value add on thst ABS call by the NYY’s just now up 3-0 in the bottom of the 9th. Turned 2 on and 1 out into 1 on and 2 out. And it mattered. The very next hitter hits a HR for the CWS. Would’ve tied it up. 3-2 instead.
Did Elliot Page market check Burn Gorman in the Nolanverse? Or is he just the age appropriate successor that the X-men actors seem to lack.
Never voluntarily give up tenure! How funny is it that they pushed out a fucking Nobel prize winner in economics (expert on trade no less) but there was nothing Ross could ever do to find himself forced out at the NYT. Good luck! Let’s see how long it lasts!
Scoop: I’m told that Ross Douthat is exiting The NYT and is expected to take a role at “60 Minutes.” News expected to be announced soon.
