This is the right thing to say and I wholeheartedly support it and believe it but it is frustrating and aggravating that he's been saying this for months and months and, like Mamdani, some people on here take this as a rhetorical pivot after the primary rather than just sincerity.

El-Sayed: "My commitment to Jewish safety is the same commitment that I have to the safety of my own daughters. Because if there is one question of political philosophy that ought to animate us all, it's what would we do if we treated all our kids like they were all of our kids?"

So, uh, a candidate who suspended his campaign a month ago is winning a landslide against a Trump endorsed candidate because of anti-Muslim prejudice against a guy who is not Muslim (and I guess probably also just regular racism). How often does a candidate who suspended their campaign win?

Seems like an upset might be brewing in the GOP primary in #MI08 to take on Dem Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet. Trump endorsed Amir Hassan, but he currently trails an absolute nobody who suspended his campaign a month ago by a wide margin.

Trump's guy is losing to someone who isn't even running anymore because his name is Amir Hassan and though he's an evangelical Christian, MAGAts assume he's Muslim. Who could've seen that coming?

A self-described “NeverTrumper” account wondering “Was Hitler onto something? 🤔” and arguing that “we need to examine [Jews] more closely” because right-wing asshole Roy Cohn existed and mentored Donald Trump.

I was talking to a college student today about the passing of the matryoshka doll from Grant Morrison and Rebis to Rachel Pollack and Kate Godwin to me and Galaxy and how much that means to me as someone who was a teenager who read those old DOOM PATROL comics and realized she wasn't alone.

One of the cool things about DC are the legacy characters. Characters who are connected not necessarily by family or circumstance, but by a shared history and view point. A line of creators who inspired the next, each a part of the larger story.

Panels from DOOM PATROL (Vol2) #23, by Grant Morrison, Richard Case, Scott Hanna, Daniel Vozzo, and John Workman.

The first panel is a closeup of nonbinary character Rebis.
Rebis: THE DOLLS ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL, DAN. I'D LIKE TO TAKE ONE AWAY WITH ME.

The last panel is a close up of a matryoshka doll.
Rebis: THAT'S IF YOU DON'T MIND.

The most terrifying enshittification I've discovered has been learning that Microsoft Word documents no longer auto-save if you are not saving them to one of their own proprietary cloud services. I'm slapping control-S like it's 1999.

In addition to having no experience in immigration, their website shows Ilya Shapiro (!) and disgraced former law prof Joshua Wright (!) as Senior Counsel. I don't think this massive contract was awarded to give immigrant children effective, zealous advocacy. burkegroup.law/our-team/

26-employee Texas law firm gets $150M to represent 24,000 children in immigration court

A lot of people are going to try and insist in about six hours that being outspent by tens of millions of dollars and winning by five to possibly fifteen points is actually not that big of a deal

If you’re loudly complaining that your ex-wife took your 2 year old daughter to the emergency room for what turned out to be a broken collarbone because it violates your “shared parenting plan”, maybe you should be more concerned about your daughter’s broken collarbone.

Acyn@acyn.bsky.social · 22h ago

Max Miller: When I was reported for child abuse, for my daughter, for a broken collarbone, my daughter was in my ex-wife's care 9 out of the last 11 days, and she took her to the emergency room, which is a contempt violation from our shared parenting plan

Really? Nobody has any idea what the money was really for? Nobody contemplated the incredibly obvious possibility that corporations lobbying the government might be very eager to give millions of dollars to a Cabinet Secretary using a fig leaf of plausible deniability to pretend it wasn’t a bribe?

Forbes@forbes.com · yesterday

Summer’s almost over and Sean Duffy’s controversial road trip reality series has yet to launch, leaving corporate sponsors out millions of dollars and critics asking what the money was really for.

So many people my age can quote so much of this verbatim. Many of them have no idea where it's originally from or who Orson Welles is. I love how Warner Brothers cartoons historically don't care if you're too young for the reference.

TODAY: @milesklee.bsky.social celebrates a high point of cinema, that Orson Welles frozen peas commercial. Welles has "no cause to give even a microscopic fraction of a fuck about how the finished product will turn out. He insists on integrity anyway." flaminghydra.com/a-celebratio...
