So much to unpack in this idiotic statement. First, the assumption that everyone uses AI at work. Nope. Never have. Yes, I can do my job perfectly well without adding AI to the mix thank you, despite system providers desperately trying to shoehorn it into everything.

#OTD in 1969 - Apollo 11 This exceptional photograph (AS11-40-5902) by Neil Armstrong, showing Buzz Aldrin, the leg of Eagle and those crisp first footprints on another world, rarely gets seen, because the very next shot on the roll is arguably the most famous photograph of the 20th century.
There is literally an entire movie based on Kirk sticking two fingers up at Starfleet and the Federation in order to steal a ship and rescue his best friend!

I would respectfully disagree with this. Contemporary Trek is imho primarily concerned with what happens to our belief in and duty towards something bigger than ourselves when that something *is failing or has failed*. Picard S1, daringly, gives that narrative to the most Starfleet of them all…

Star Trek began airing in the UK on this day in 1969 with 'Where No Man Has Gone Before'.
Good grief. Just seen one of those 'great bits of movie plotting' posts about Terminator 2 praising the way it kept Arnie's Terminator's role as protector hidden until the first confrontation, claiming both terminators killed people to obtain their clothing. 🤦♂️
I always remember BBC shows having a delighfully meta and often self-deprecating habit of referencing the BBC itself and the mechanics of making TV shows, with characters or presenters popping in, or references to producers or the sound man or other crew, and showing a lot of TV Centre.
It’s a rather lovely indication of how quickly Doctor Who caught on that it was only six weeks into its run that another BBC show was spoofing it. In this case Michael Bentine’s ‘It’s a Square World’ on 31st December 1963, with Clive Dunn as not Doctor Who.

Human Spaceflight: 22 Jun 1973. After 28 days in orbit, the Skylab 2 crew undocked from Skylab and returned to Earth in their Apollo spacecraft. They had set the record for the longest space mission, and Pete Conrad became the man with more time in space than anyone else, just over 49 days.

Human Spaceflight: 07 Jun 1973. Pete Conrad and Joe Kerwin venture outside Skylab to try to free the stuck solar panel. They are successful, and the single remaining solar wing unfolds and begins supplying more power to the station. Paul Weitz uses the TV camera to show some of the activity.

Human Spaceflight: 31 May 1973. After the stresses and strains of the previous weeks, and finding life on the station quite comfortable, the Skylab crew put on a light-hearted show for mission control, demonstrating some zero-g activities and running the 'Skylab 500' to lift everyone's spirits.
