I am prone to hyperbole, but 4 and 5 aren't just going to lose. They're going to lose in historically bad fashion. #FullCollapse www.stlpr.org/government-p...
Amendments 4 and 5 are losing close to or more than 80-20 in absentees in Jefferson County. I think it's safe to say that Missouri will not attempt to phase out the income tax or make it harder to amend the state constitution.
MO SOS Hoskins rejected a referendum on a 2025 map aimed at ousting @cleaver.house.gov. It's a decision that's not unexpected and will be challenged in court. And if Hoskins is wrong... some election officials have broached the possibility of redo congressional primaries in the fall:
Hoskins rejects Missouri congressional redistricting map referendum, setting up court fight
The GOP Secretary of State’s decision was expected. Proponents of placing the GOP-leaning map up for a statewide vote will go to court to put a vote on the plan on the November ballot.

My take is that is we're really entering a 2006-like Blue Wave, you're going to have lots of different types of Democrats win elections. Jon Tester and @clairecmc.bsky.social and Jim Webb were different than the anti-Iraq War ppl who captured House seats. People were just mad at Republicans.
This is convincing. Every Dem is going to get asked about the shiny new thing (or old tweet) from a left-wing Dem candidate. I do think the incentives are different for someone running on same ballot as, say, Abdul (Hilary Scholten) and some candidate just being tied to the left (Cait Conley).

Missouri voters will decide Tuesday whether lawmakers can expand sales and use taxes to eliminate the state income tax. Supporters say Amendment 5 would boost economic growth, while opponents warn it could raise the cost of living.
Voters to decide the fate of Missouri’s income tax Tuesday — here’s what it would mean
In January, Gov. Mike Kehoe called for a phase-out of the state’s income tax and an expansion of sales and use taxes, which he wants voters to approve. That vote is Tuesday.

Relatedly: Hamilton is reportedly already setting (or about to set) fundraising records in the state. In other words: Even if he doesn't win, Hamilton's run — should he win the primary — may force the GOP to burn money defending what should've been a safe seat. www.kansascity.com/news/politic...

Also, I think people who follow elections really need to pay attention to this race. Hamilton, should he get the nomination, could end up being a very strong challenger to Marshall especially in a Blue Wave year.

Wild to see folks re-litigate the fundamentalist-modernist controversy of the early 20th century. Rejecting inerrancy has been a common dividing line between mainline Christians (which includes KS senate Dem candidate Rev. Hamilton, who is UMC) and evangelicals/fundamentalists for roughly a century
I love Bill McCellan (even though he's a Cubs fan and I'm a White Sox fan). But I refuse to wear shorts in the summer while working. I've showed up to a Cow Patty Bingo event in Columbia wearing slacks. That's how much I believe in this. capitolcallingportfolio.wordpress.com/2013/02/08/c...
In 1985 columnist Bill McClellan suggested that men wear shorts to work in the St. Louis summer.

U.S. Rep Wesley Bell is once again squaring off against fellow Democrat Cori Bush to represent the state’s 1st Congressional District. In their joint appearance on “The Politically Speaking Hour on St. Louis on the Air,” the candidates discussed their campaign finances, military spending and more:

Wyclef Jean’s journey from Fugees co-founder to global solo artist has shaped a career rooted in music and activism. He brings that legacy to St. Louis this weekend as the closing-night headliner of MATI. From @stlonair.bsky.social:
