Some may have forgotten that ZZ Top's legacy was nearly destroyed when the drum tracks on their entire catalogue were remixed in 1987 to sound more "radio friendly." Thankfully, the original mixes were restored and reissued in 2013. The remixes are probably still out there, so newbies beware!
When I used to DJ, one of my favourite combinations was the Beastie Boys' "Root Down" into ZZ Top's "Cheap Sunglasses." Frank Beard could lay down a groove with the best of 'em. Seeing them post-Eliminator was always fun although predictable. Still, Billy Gibbons must now be protected at all costs!
