It's "forage my street" blackberry season. Over 5 lbs from the large stand < 1 block away. Because these are roadside berries, they will get a soak in dilute soapy water, a rinse in clear water, and then be used ONLY for cooking. I'll probably make jam and syrup. Maybe a crisp or cake.

I'm not sure on exact dates so... Mom's side: Running a diner or cooking on a cattle ranch in TX (both) Dad's side: In the Navy (grandfather); and either a chanteuse or seamstress (grandmother).

The pizza shops in this garbage town simply refuse to heat up an Italian sub. They only serve the trashest cheesesteak you've ever tasted and meatball subs where they cut the balls into little wedges. An entire town of sandwich idiots

Minor miracle - insurance covered all the arborist work for our downed tree limb on the roof! We kept getting warned they wouldn't cover parts of it. The adjuster was nice and we talked to him a bit. I think maybe he did us a solid by putting everything in his estimate. Will take the win!

As of this morning, Oregon wildfires covered 415,000 acres, already surpassing last year’s total acres burned. More than 1,000 people have had to evacuate. With thunderstorms & heatwaves on the horizon, wildfires could get worse this week. www.opb.org/article/2026...
