Being a natural pessimist I was concerned about NUFC’s transfer window 3/4 weeks ago, but seemingly we’ve done some good business. This squad will have undoubtedly have some low moments, but there’s a better technical level, more depth, and just loads of excitement about the unknown. Random 🧠🧐s… 1/
Usual caveats that it hasn’t happened yet: but is MFP what #NUFC need? Don’t want to sound like a chip-pisser. Seems better on the left. Apparently can play 10 but more often used up top. But seems like a true 10 and a left-footed RW would make a bigger difference to us?
Listened to a popular football podcast today where the panel collectively remarked that they could recall nothing about Nico Gonzalez. For a DM like we need, I think that’s actually sort of perfect. A positionally-disciplined, metronomic but physically imposing (if not fast) DM is gonna make us tick
It's going to be a fun season with these young lads. They'll make mistakes along the way - Jaouen last night, but we need to give them room to make these and learn from them. Thought his footwork was class. Can see the talent in all of the signings, but some will need longer than others. #nufc
That goal was coming. GAPING hole in midfield almost all game
This pessimistic git would be surprised at anything other than a comfortable win for Liverpool today. Can see Isak exploiting Botman’s turning circle and that midfield just not having enough to deal with Liverpool. 😰 Hopefully we give a decent account of ourselves though
Apropos of absolutely nothing; an invasive thought; and it’s fairly simplistic, but.. Leeds took DCL and Harry Wilson on frees (yes, yes high wages/risky). BUT, would we be much worse off with those two + ~£120M spare, vs. Woltemade and Elanga?
Not long back from a great weekend in Newcastle for both friendlies and time with friends. Anyone who saw the game or highlights will have seen what’s obvious. Gonna be a tough season. I thought two bright sparks were Mason Miley, out of position but very good yday, and Henry Johnson. 1/
Henry Johnson was standout v Strasbourg. First time I've seen him play and very impressed by what he did. Now he needs game time and top coaching, maybe keep him at club until January and then find him a loan at a club that can help him improve.
I think we’re gonna be on the back foot most of this season. To that end I wouldn’t mind Palhinha. But is that a self-defeating notion? At this point we just need any one with presence and physicality to bolster that midfield.
Not much to say about today’s game on the pitch, but thought Mason Miley looked decent. Had a great day with my boys, and it was refreshing to enjoy the game through their relatively innocent perspective!
Went to Arsenal vs Como tonight with colleagues (boss is an Arsenal fan.) Bruno was the best player on the pitch. So, that was nice. 😬😂
Leaving it this long to get some full back cover - when Livramento is made of glass and has been injured for a while, and Hall is a flight risk - is pretty odd from NUFC. You'd think some cover in the Bamba/Steur mould should have been feasible by now. 😬
You can point fingers at the club all you want, but this is the latest in several utterly obvious examples of how NUFC is operating, and trying to compete, in a game completely rigged in the ‘big six’s favour. Loads of routes the club could take, but very few lead you to a seat at the top table.
Bruno bringing Kia into his team was a dodgy move, but don't agree with some of the abuse being directed his way. Bloke is nearly 29, has world class ability and we've just finished 12th. He'd probably need to be mental to stay if we're being honest. I'll remember him fondly. #nufc
Not sure why people are surprised about Bruno going just because there’s been no official bid. Not how transfers work anymore. Christ, what a day :-/
Taking a moment (while we wait for any news/pics/goals from the friendly) to say a massive thank you to @greyeyemagpie.bsky.social on here. Almost single handedly makes BlueSky work for #NUFC fans. Doesn't half put the hours in too. What a shift. Cheers lad.

It's been a busy day Bluesky, you have my sincere apologies for how long you've been waiting for some stats about #NUFC 's newest summer signing. Aladji Bamba is a 20-year-old French defensive midfielder who is right-footed & who is 194cm (though some places have him listed at 181cm) 1/ 🧵
KK is the reason that as a 7-year-old I fell in love with a football club 315 miles away from me, that I had no familial connection with, and that would be difficult, expensive and - largely - emotionally arduous to support. He’s the reason I, and now my boys, love, and bond over football. RIP 👑
Utterly inevitable.
🚨 EXCL: Aston Villa in process of finalising move to sign Johan Manzambi from Freiburg. Newcastle United had agreement with #SCF but #NUFC lacked player approval. 20yo Swiss midfielder wants #AVFC & deal now accelerating towards conclusion 🚨 @theathleticfc.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/athletic/743...
#ad etc etc
🚨🇨🇭 Newcastle will get in touch with Johan Manzambi’s camp to try close the agreement on personal terms. Agreement done days ago club to club with Freiburg — but green light from player and his camp still needed to get it sealed. Decision up to Manzambi.
Newcastle shouldn’t be amazed. Any club in a similar position to us, or any club really, should be anticipating transfers getting messier and messier by the window.
Keith on Bruno/arsenal #nufc
This is more like it from NUFC on transfers. Steur seems straight out of the Ross Wilson playbook. I imagine the new no. 1 will be the hardest one to do, if City's asking price for Trafford is to be believed.
