Roadrunners are cool on many levels 😁 On the ground On the seed platform - ground +3 In the seed bowl - ground +4 On the fence - ground +6 Junior or Ravi , behaviors for either, much cooing happening. 10:30 visit #birds
Two trips to the snack bowl are done and Junior? is up on the side fence for a minute before clacking and gliding down the slope behind the backyard. 🪶

A 1:50 visit from not BT. More snacks then beak maintenance and down the slope from on the fence. Seems like BT has been taking the late shift but we will be gone late afternoon. Snack bowl is ready. 🪶
10:30, Junior I think. Not BT at any rate. No wonky feather. Brought a big appetite, cleaned out the big snacks. Thoughtfully left all the small snacks for the little #birds. Short visit.
12:30 and Junior has apparently been hanging out in the shade of the back patio aka Monarch caterpillar care zone 🦋 It’s hot (maybe not by EU standards 🔥) but it’s 94°f , 34°C so hanging in the shade is good. 2nd pic - scratching an itch on the neck requires opening the beak! #birds roadrunner
Good move, Junior! It’s hot, a cool drink is a requirement! After the drink, Junior trotted to and through the calibrated fence and down the slope a bit, probably into the shade of the dense acacia bushes in the ‘common area’ between us and the houses down the slope.

A 5 o’clock visit from not BT. I’m thinking Junior but not sure. A couple trips to the snack bowl, drinks from the water bowl, up in the seed bowl , they all do like that then zoom to the side yard where the tortoises are, I think for a dust bath but I did not intrude 😉 #birds roadrunner SoCal

It’s a BT carousel! Wonky feather is still there so earlier visits today were probably Junior. 1-4, BT brought the big appetite 5, shins closeup for later 6, Short bake out 7-8, maybe molting, lots of preening scratching going on #birds
