Saw Nolan’s take on The Odyssey. I thought it quite good. The sound, the look, the scope, the gritty fantastical sequences, the acting, which for the most part was universally good, with some performances leaning into great, all worked for me.

…and we’re currently rewatching True Detective season one. Ligottian bleakness done well—and yes, I know of the plagiarism issues—that had a chance to be great, but then they chickened out on the landing. Still, I dig the vibe, Cohle’s mindset.
