@moviehooligan.bsky.social did you hear about Danny boyle using AI in his latest movie? That makes me feel kind of gross and worried about the next 28 years installment...
Clouds are gathering on the horizon-- the darkness is at hand. If you have any interest in SUNNY DAYS, this is the weekend to grab it. I genuinely don't know if/when it will be available again. 🥲 shop.bigthinkingpublishing.co.uk/products/sun... www.amazon.com/Sunny-Days-L...
Better than any of his star trek novels (I know, that's a low bar), these are genuinely fun vaguely cyberpunk-y books that I loved when I was young. Rereading them, they hold up the standard of fun but not 'serious', crime noir/cyberpunk, that I expected. Also brought these when I met him last year.
The world needs more @abeepp.bsky.social emo band/cyborg puns.
So, um, has anyone heard if we're getting updated flu and COVID boosters this year? I've seen literally no news, announcements, or attention on this?
Watching the tng episode "half a life". 1) it's great, maybe one of the best tng lwaxana episodes. wish we could had some ds9 episodes of lwaxana leading the partisans that drove the dominion back off betazed Also @moviehooligan.bsky.social she is obviously the cast member to do acid/molly/etc with.
@techconnectify.bsky.social would there be a reason not to just tie your heat pump water heater air intake directly into the intake ductwork your HVAC unit already uses?
I love how these guys start out this way, and by the time McCaffery teams up with another author the publisher has decided they need to like beast from that 90s series set in the sewers with Robert englund.
A sideshow of Nazis made an appearance at Jake Lang's circus in Dearborn, MI the other day. Not to support Jake, but to oppose him for being Jewish. These dudes w their swastikas, nazi salutes & red beret outfits represented two little known groups: "European Americans" & "Enclave". a thread ...
The nazis are still yapping- “we are the real Nazis, the real racists- we say whites and Arabs in the one struggle”
I've signed onto an open letter of authors (and publishers) who support the striking workers of the Cleveland Public Library system. If you're an author or publisher and want to sign on too, there's information about how to do so! Tell your friends, etc. tinyurl.com/cplsolidarity
I love these little art heavy editions wildside did of short stories and novellas
@startthemachine.bsky.social checked out a copy of Medicine Man to subject my partner to. The late middle aged lady working the desk at the library looked at it and *immediately* exclaimed, "oooooh, Sean connory with a ponytail..." I know who's watching that for the first time next....
End of oak Street not as good as I hoped. Did not live up to his work on it follows. That's what you get for working with j.j. abrams though, I guess.
Its great to be at the gym and see fox news talking about how the framers of the constitution & amendments couldn't have foreseen how immigration - birthrate citizenship would evolve over time so changes need to be made...but somehow they could foresee assault weapons so all guns are fine always.
Starting @bleakhousing.bsky.social Boris says the Words today. Opening with a pkd quote and a style that reminds me of the strugatskis (and not just because it's partially set in Russia...sheesh) is a great way to start!
New kittens just dropped. Under three quarters of a point.
I've been thinking about resellers buying up & wildly marking up tickets for events. Scalpers were always a thing, but it would certainly lessen the problem if they went back to physical tickets that you either had to pick up at will call with id, or mailed them to you 2 weeks or less in advance of
This, and the rest of the thread, are so niche it's like it was made for me. Thank you.
Ahh yes Rackhir the Red Archer
This is awesome. I'd ask the ether why we don't do this in America, but the answer to that is always the same...
Also, if you borrow an author's book from a library in the UK, that author gets more than 12 pence per loan in Public Lending Rights. Any author can earn up to £6,600 per year this way.
So I know I already read book 2 or whatever, but as this is one of the few other books of @margaret.bsky.social that the library has, I'm finally getting to this one. @akpress.org
This was a pretty big let down after Tender is the Flesh. :( going to give her other full length novel a chance though, in case short form just isn't really her thing.
I am finally back on pace to do at least 100 books this year.
@castaignepub.bsky.social diving into @bleakhousing.bsky.social Tone-Bone. Already feels more straightforward than enter the nameless. But I'm still here for a violent and unbalanced post-menopausal antihero.
Was just at a Sarah mclachlan concert in Michigan that had to be shut down early because the air is so filled with smoke.
I know I'm way behind the times on this, but this book is fantastic.
