Seven years of writing

Wow, what a year. I don't have to tell you it's been a struggle because it's almost certainly been a struggle for you too. I mean, I don't want to make assumptions, but... <gestures to the world-at-large>. Ahem. Moving on. Looking back to the start of last year, I was aiming low. Complete the sequel to Springtide Harvest, maybe keep up the social media engagement, mind and body willing.

As someone who just lost their job, which can be done poorly by AI (which is good enough, apparently), other might find this interesting. www.brookings.edu/articles/mea...

Measuring US workers’ capacity to adapt to AI-driven job displacement | Brookings

There is both broad resilience and concentrated pockets of potential vulnerability in the U.S. labor market when it comes to AI job displacement.

This is tomorrow! I'm inexplicably excited about this, most likely because it feels great to have my fiction out again. I don't write as often as I'd like because of my anxiety but I'm trying to treat the anxiety as a form of excitement; it doesn't solve it but it helps. I'll do more if this lands.

I guess I can talk about this now. The BattleTech short story magazine 'Shrapnel' issue 23 is available for pre-order now. And yes - that's my name on the front cover. Get in. bit.ly/BT-Shrapnel-23

Hats off to The Alien Trilogy soundtrack performed by Cliff Eidelman and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. It includes music from the first three ALIEN movies and they've done a great job of it. Brilliant album. I'm listening to it while I work so I'm getting the energy from all three films.

I could go for some dystopic revenge porn. Oligarchic bad guy overkill, anyone?

Radon Journal@radonjournal.bsky.social · 2y ago

Dystopia as a genre often becomes less popular when reality is itself a dystopia. People want escape and it makes sense. We'd like to remind that Radon is looking for Dystopia stories that feature the fight/rebellion/hope of the characters within. Inspiration that we can all apply to the real world.
