Dolly Parton and Donald Trump were both born in 1946. Parton was born into poverty in a one-room cabin in Appalachia. Trump was born a millionaire in one of the most diverse places on Earth. One dedicated her life to love and joy and generosity. The other dedicated his to selfishness and cruelty.

"We watched it on TV. And it's like, 'That's our son. That's Alex. And they killed him' ... trying to help someone" -- Alex Pretti's dad

The Library is devastated to learn of the passing of Dolly Parton, a music legend and titan of children's literacy. Her Imagination Library program has earned multiple Library Literacy Awards and, in 2018, she visited us to donate its 100 millionth book to our collection and host a story time. 🦋❤️

I can think of at least three Trump supporting professors at my "elite" college, two in social sciences. & when we censured our president for allowing state SWAT team, w/ long guns, to remove a peaceful Palestine protest, we won by just a few votes. A monolithic academic left is a myth.

Viewpoint diversity is the opposite of peer review. You should not be leading a university if you don’t believe in peer review asheeshksi.substack.com/p/producing-...

The fact that conservative scholarship is underrepresented in our institutions ultimately means that the left gets flabbier because it’s not being tested and challenged in the way it ought to be. At the same time, the right, to the extent that it moves outside the university and finds itself in think tanks and is not subject to challenges or critiques from the center and the left, becomes more radicalized. This is not just a problem for our institutions. It’s a problem for America. So I do feel urgency in trying to remedy this issue. It was my colleague Steve Teles, who wrote in The Chronicle about this, who said he was hard pressed to identify a single tenured conservative scholar in the social sciences and humanities at Hopkins. I took that as a very serious critique

Charlie Watts, gone five years ago today. 🙏🏼 “The thing about Charlie was that he was always there, always played beautifully,” Jagger said. “He held the band together for so long, musically, because he was the rock the rest of it was built around.” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) openly accused Attorney General Todd Blanche of illegal conduct Saturday on the heels of a new report that an alleged trove of “missing” handwritten FBI notes related to Jeffrey Epstein had been sitting online for months, fully unredacted, and accessible to anyone.

Shapiro: When he sits behind the desk in the Oval Office, making $2.2 billion off his corruption for him and his kids, it costs you money. When he sits behind that desk, he’s not thinking about how to put money in your pocket. He’s thinking about how to put money in his own pocket.

The algorithm is bombarding us with Darlene Graham clips, but what folks need to do is immediately after watching one of those listen to Annie Andrews. Here’s one. Night and day: Unserious vs intelligent and thoughtful.
