Studying WWII at Arizona State University. Star Wars, plants, books… wherever the hyperfocus leads me. She/ her 🫶 Free 🍉 🇵🇸 Justice for the people Eat the rich

As a WWII scholar-in-training, I’m appalled I haven’t found this book sooner. It is hard to read every word of the books we’re assigned, but I can’t put this one down. America is great because of our Black neighbors, and the equality and humanity they still fight for. Thank you Matthew F. Delmont!

Just finished the book Fascism by Mark Neocleous. Curious about his updated thoughts and research, I looked him up. This is how you scholar! 💯 Scholars deserve pay, obviously. But understanding the shit show political world we’re living in should be free. Thank you Mark!

You know, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen any maga/ frump merch. The farms around me took down their weird hay bale shrine; the oversized trucks don’t fly the flags anymore. Wonder what the last straw was for all my red neighbors 😂

Only 38 pages in, and I’m hooked. (And absolutely do not sense the origins of modern conflicts within these pages…/s) Upcoming course is “The Global War” and I’m thrilled to be learning more about the ‘fringes’ of WWII. (Aka, what isn’t taught in US schools)

My bestie and I spent years joking about what our ‘designated fbi agents’ thought about our texts. We even named them. The joke ended without any conversation on our part. It was funny before because we’re just harmless, goofy ladies. It stopped being funny when people started getting detained

“The new illiberal polity is a state only in appearance, for at its core is not the set of routines, codes, or institutions that comprise a genuine state, but a party-movement and its myths. At the heart of such pseudo-states lie camps, terror, and secret police.” -Ira Katznelson

If you can tell me who Karl Polanyi, Hannah Arendt, and Walter Benjamin are (without looking them up), we would probably get along. (Though, we’d get along even if you don’t, so long as you respect humans, animals, and the Earth 💕)

The cat distribution system struck again. Someone dumped off a black kitten. I named him Anakin. It goes well with Boba (cat), Ahsoka, Rex, and Leia (dogs). My family has never seen Star Wars. But I think they’re catching on. 👀 My suggestion for Vader before Anakin may have given me away…

Perhaps I study genocide because it’s so horrific that it makes my own problems seem irrelevant. In other words, I accepted that I’ll never find love again, but who needs love when you spend your days trying to listen to the cries of millions?

Rob Reiner: “Silence in the face of authoritarianism is complicity. Speaking out is a patriotic act. Democracy doesn’t defend itself. It requires participation, vigilance, and courage from ordinary people."

Always wondered how the Star Wars Emperor could start with a battle-hardened army and end up with an "entire legion of his best troops" being beaten to death by teddybears with sticks. Then Hegseth ended up as US Defence Sec. And now yeah that makes sense.

All probationary federal employees at NOAA’s EMC that’s responsible for keeping all US weather model systems running have been fired with 1 hours notice. And that includes me and colleagues. We will not go quietly because we care about the NOAA mission to protect the public.

Though I’ve been avoiding spending money since January (as much as possible) I haven’t quit Facebook. I just have all my friends and family there. But I deleted the app yesterday in solidarity with the blackout today. So, I might get to know Bluesky a little better today 😂
