Twitch creators appear to be adding 'aioptedout' to their content tags to help indicate to audiences that they have toggled it off. Twitch CPO Mikey Minty was asked about an "opted in/out indicator" yesterday and said they had no plans to implement one for viewers.

Twitch updated its Terms of Service. 1. It no longer stores or caches User Content "with an aim to providing or improving the Twitch Services." 2. It now exercises its license for "Twitch and/or its affiliates' business," instead of just "monetizing the service."

8. User Content
We refer to everything you create on Twitch or provide to us as “User Content”. This includes content created by your authorized users, third-party tools you use, and Twitch’s automated tools you use.
Twitch allows you to distribute streaming live and pre-recorded audio-visual works; to use services, such as chat, bulletin boards, forum postings, wiki contributions, and voice interactive services; and to participate in other activities in which you may create, post, transmit, perform, or store content, messages, text, sound, images, applications, code, or other data or materials on the Twitch Services (“User Content”). By live streaming or otherwise making User Content available on Twitch, you are directing Twitch to also cache and/or store your User Content and every individual piece of it (such as each video clip, audio segment, image, or text). You are also directing Twitch to use any automated tools enabled on your account to generate and store additional content for you, which is also your User Content. Similarly, if you choose to enable Authorized Users or third-party applications to perform any activities under your account, you are directing them to create content for you and it is also your User Content.(i) Unless otherwise agreed to in a written agreement between you and Twitch that was signed by an authorized representative of Twitch, if you submit, transmit, display, perform, post, or store User Content using the Twitch Services, you grant Twitch and its sub-licensees, to the furthest extent and for the maximum duration permitted by applicable law (including in perpetuity if permitted under applicable law), an unrestricted, worldwide, irrevocable, fully sub-licenseable, nonexclusive, and royalty-free right to: (a) use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, and display your User Content (including without limitation for promoting and redistributing part or all of the Twitch Services (and derivative works thereof)) in any form, format, media, or media channels now known or later developed or discovered; and (b) use the name, identity, likeness, and voice (or other biographical information) that you submit in connection with such User Content. Twitch can exercise these rights in connection with Twitch and/or its affiliates’ business.

I'm just going to say it... It's really spineless behavior that Dan Clancy wasn't the co-host with Mikey Minty. He's made his entire run as CEO by being front and center on every stream, but when the toughest announcement yet comes, he throws Mary Kish under the bus.

i have spoken extensively on stream about how much this Fucking Sucks™ and i have turned this setting off. the only true way to avoid any of it is to leave the platform and i cannot lose the income i get from streaming right now. my chat knows where i stand on this and how exploitative i find it.

Twitch now uses your channel to train generative AI by default. You can opt out of some training here: www.twitch.tv/settings/sec...

Training for Generative AI

Allow your channel content to train generative AI content models at Amazon. Turning this off does not opt you out of Twitch and Amazon using your channel content for other purposes described in the Twitch Privacy Notice, including using AI-supported Twitch features that benefit the community by facilitating streamer growth and monetization (such as real-time sponsorship campaign assistance), viewer discovery (such as recommendations), and community safety (such as AutoMod).
