The record temperatures, wildfires and drought we have seen in the UK & Europe is climate change in action. There is hope. It has been a record year for renewable energy generation, all new homes will have solar panels from next year. But we must accelerate the transition to clean & green energy.

My comments can get heated. Here's me reacting to some of them...

Excited that @miattafahnbulleh.bsky.social and @andyburnham.bsky.social are creating 5,000 good jobs with the National Grid. Two reasons this will make life affordable (in next post).

Our young people are our future. They are smarter, kinder, better than I was at their age. And they will help us meet this moment. My alumni address at the Kings College London graduation last week.

Climate change is an affordability issue. A burning planet means more drought. More drought means fewer crops. Fewer crops means higher food prices.

Getting energy bills down is good for families *and* for investment. Because lower energy bills gives the Bank more space to cut rates.

Climate change isn’t something happening in the future. It’s with us now. It poses a threat to our health and our economy. That is why the public back net zero. That is why we are reducing our emissions *and* inventing & exporting the tech to help other countries do so too.

Great news on buses! A £2 fare cap and greener, cheaper travel for Loughborough.⚡ Some breathing room on the cost of living. Cleaner, cheaper buses serving our community. Great to see.

Cheap buses are great. They make life much more affordable. And they *also* get growth rising. It’s cheaper to commute, meaning more job opportunities for you and more workers for businesses to hire. Easier to meet mates and share ideas too. Higher wages for you. Higher productivity for us all.
