The collapse is ugly. It was always going to be. The old ways of governing in the US weren't doing any good, but they weren't this ugly.
I find it fascinating how many writers talk of "taking generations" for the US to recover our lost world leadership and respect. I hate to break this to you, but the destruction of the former US "government for the people" system does not cause ecosystem collapse to stop nor drastically slow.
In seven years of writing of steps to ameliorate the damage our culture does to the global ecosystem, I rarely ever had my words spread by my supposed allies. Trump, Musk, et al, get their words spread by those same "my supposed allies" many times every day. I see what "we" prefer to hear.
