In response to the unprecedented number of game developers laid off this year, we have created a bundle on itch to benefit a Game Industry Hardship Fund, managed by @videogameworkers.bsky.social. More than 100 games for 10+ bucks! Please share widely and donate generously! itch.io/b/3802/game-...

Sound designers, what do you do when you are working on something and you accidentally stumble upon a really cool, but unrelated idea. Do you save a note for yourself somewhere? I feel like every time I do it I just forget about it and never actually use it for anything.

I am now OPEN TO WORK. I've been told I'm a pleasure to have in class, and also that I bring a kind of 'major freak who can also make you cry' energy to the writer's room. I can neither confirm nor deny that I was the reason we had to eventually make a 'No More Puns' rule on ZP.

Unfortunately, I've been informed that my job is one of those being made redundant in the layoffs at the studio today. This has been an insanely creative, talented, and kind group of people, and I am going to miss my friends terribly.

There is something so special to me when someone says a thing I created resonated with them. I always deeply appreciate compliments in general, but the fact that it meant enough to a person that their thoughts went beyond "sounds cool" is such a wild feeling. It's like having an affect on the world.

3. Nocturne I've followed the creator of this game for years and my goodness he's made something truly incredible. I'm not particularly good at rhythm games but there are lots of different difficulty options to keep yourself challenged. Stellar dialogue, beautiful art -- lots to love.

Steam cover image for Nocturne -- features the protagonist looking out across the horizon to a sun shaped like a halo (it has a hole in the middle). Depicted with beautifully shaded pixel art.A picture of difficulty modes from the steam page, with 6 modes ranging from Beginner to Zen.A screenshot of dialogue between the protagonist, Karma, and a young kid called Kimothy. Karma says, "Is Nocturne that AI they created to help look after Maya?"

Nocturne: An absolutely stunning game. You are dead, and must traverse an abandoned afterlife searching for your brother, and fighting off "crawlers" with rhythm combat, (not my usual jam, but there are several difficulties and good accessibility options to make this more approachable!!) Enby MC!

The afterlife is now digital. Discover that eternal life comes with sacrifice in a genre-defying RPG with unique rhythm combat.

I love the creative process: "Why is this so bad?" *hour passes* "I love this! This is the greatest thing ever." *hour passes* "What is this trash? Why is everything awful?" *five minutes* "I'm a genius." *next day* "Okay, this is fine."
